Hello Sinners! I've got a winter/holiday city-wide event for you and your characters to enjoy and/or suffer through! Looks like the City is hungry for some Christmas Cheer this year and NO ONE CAN ESCAPE. (Just kidding you can opt out if you really want to.)

Starting a week before Christmas day, (December 18th IC, January 6th OOC) enchanted mistletoe will appear in random places around the city, hung in doorways, hallways, under traffic lights, anywhere high enough that people can easily walk under. This mistletoe can be destroyed or removed, but will grow back in the same or nearby spot within 4-8 hours, and it seems the more that is destroyed the more comes back in the general vicinity. Like a Hydra you cut off a head, two grow in its place. Have fun playing with that mechanic!

When two people stand under this mistletoe at the same time, even if just passing through at the same time, each character will get the unavoidable urge to either kiss or hug the other character. What kind of kiss or hug is up to each character and player but it can’t be resisted. Hooray!

There will also be new snowfall starting the same day the mistletoe appears. This snow will also be enchanted and perfect for snowballs and snowman making. When exposed (by touch) to this enchanted snow, characters will feel a sense of playfulness and wonder as well as a warmth that brings good memories of past holidays or traditions of family and friends to their mind. How characters react or respond to this is up to you and them, but the purpose is to give them something that makes them generally happy (even if bittersweet) and festive.

Everything is back to normal come Christmas morning, except each character upon waking will find a wrapped present addressed to them nearby containing an item from home. This will be an item that should bring generally positive feelings to your character, even if complex. It shouldn’t be something that brings too much angst. Good will and cheer and all that jazz.

Any questions, ask below in the comments!

Please also reply to the gift request thread to clear said gifts with our mod!

Hey Sinners! Lily here bringing you another player plot. This one is an oldie but a goodie and much fun can be hand with it. It's called the Dreamscape event and it's open to everyone who wishes to participate.

For those of you who aren't familiar, it's pretty easy. Your character falls asleep and begins to dreams. Pretty normal, right? Well, not exactly. Within the Dreamscape plot, there's someone else that's been pulled into the dream, as well, and remembers it when the dream is over.

This event is scheduled for November 2 - 10th, OOC / November 26th-28th, in game.

OOC Info

- Can I opt-out? Yes! If this isn't your kind of plot then no worries! Participation is not mandatory.

- Who can dreamwalk on my characters dream? Whoever you like! It can be someone close to your character or a person they don't know very well or even at all. We suggest taking the time to plot things out. This kind of event is also great for establishing new CR!

- What should my character dream? Whatever you want them to! Is there a person or place that your character loves that's only in their homeworld? What about a certain event that took place in their life? Maybe a secret you (as the player) want to come out that your character won't talk about or divulge to those they are close to in the City? The possibilities are endless and can range from heartwarming to terrifying. And you don't have to limit it to one dream. This event spans three in-game days!

Any other questions? Drop it down below!

Feel free to create top levels in this post for your character(s) for plotting purposes!

As promised in the last mod post, here's your rundown on the fourth wall deets — with a preface that there will be a lot of bold and underlined text in here, so, apologies in advance:

DATES: OCTOBER 1st — 31st
A whole month, yes!
(This means your fourth wall characters are in play for a month, then gone and over with the close of the event.)

Since membership to the City of Sin communities is moderated — and in the case of the network and logs comm (not the OOC comm), commenting is locked to members only — we will be playing with the 4th wall in a special community! One is already set up ([community profile] 4thwall_cos) and that community will be open for the sole purpose of the fourth wall event. New posts and membership to that comm will be open as of September 30th [since as of currently, membership to [community profile] 4thwall_cos is moderated], and disallowed once the event is over on October 31st, but backtagging will remain open and welcome for as long as people want to keep started threads going.

(Any fourth wall comments by characters already in game are eligible to be used for AC. This is done on a CHARACTER basis, not PLAYER — meaning: current players can play characters they don't already have in game on this test drive, but they can't use those threads for AC.)

Everything in that community WILL BE GAME CANON; current players and characters, please keep this in mind. As such, you don't have to have your character interact here and can opt out that way, but you may not have them ICly pretend like this event didn't happen at all, because that wouldn't make any sense and would give us two different game canons. And this isn't Avengers: Endgame, for the love of god; I promise that's the only potshot at Markus and McFeely in this entry. I highly advise current players to at least subscribe to the comm even if they don't tag out in the event, so they can still easily keep up with some game canon.

That also means, for anyone not currently in game but joining us for this event, you are a welcomed guest in our community for this event, and as such, please be respectful and aware of the game's rules and settings in turn. Our current players are also always asked to adhere to these rules of conduct as well; no game-breaking stuff, respect OOC boundaries, et cetera. Our game's information is located HERE.

That said, the only two rules I'm allowing be bent for event purposes are:

01 | People messing around with AU versions of their in-game characters if they wish. Anyone else is still welcome to play AU versions too, but hey if you wanna play an AU of your canon character in the fourth wall too and not claim it for AC purposes (see above point regarding what kinds of fourth wall threads are AC eligible), go wild. As long as any AU is not under 18 and/or a pregnant character; neither of those are kosher in AU characters or not, even for the fourth wall. That would just be too much to manage in current game canon and setting.

02 | Duplicates of canon characters in game will be technically allowed in the fourth wall. In our standard rules we don't allow duplicates in game (unless the other is AU), but for fourth wall purposes ONLY, this will be lifted. These duplicate characters would not be able to be apped anyway after the event is over, so I think this just opens up the door for other ways to have temporary fourth-wall fun. Current players who want to tag into the event may obviously opt out of duplicate responses if they would like. While I'm not going to demand screencapped proof that people get permission from the current in-game player of a canon character to play a canon duplicate of theirs in the fourth wall, it is general polite human policy to ask first in any circumstance where you want to consider someone else's preferences and/or feelings. Don't be this:

It just felt like a vaguely appropriate gif to close it out with, okay, I don't know.

Ask any questions in the MOD QUESTIONS thread below.

Just wanted to remind everyone that the network is being swapped over to a Chosen-run network. All information can be found here.

The short version is the network will go dark for approximately 45 minutes - an hour during the latter part of the morning on November 9th (this Friday, September 13th), in-game. Chosen will not be able to call, texts or access to the directory or other features during this time. After that, a network announcement will go up announcing the changes.

Thank-you to those who were able to take part!

Tessa here! A couple things to note:

1). I'll be using [personal profile] tremoring instead of [personal profile] tidepod for any future threads with Skye/Daisy.

2). Mini player event, I guess??? Everyone in the City can feel an earthquake on the IC date of the 7th. Feel free to react to it in your own threads or in that post or WHATEVER.

Happy almost (IC) Halloween, players!
🎃💀☠️

Courtesy of these shenanigans are thanks to Team Connor, for being bold, brave, and accidentally poking at things under the sea. Here’s a follow up post by The High Priestess on the matter.

Starting late on the IC date of NOVEMBER 1st and lasting until the early hours of NOVEMBER 3rd (be sure to check the game calendar for corresponding OOC dates), the City will be, um, “treated” to a presence breaking out of the ocean depths -- Cthulhu is going to come say hi to the Chosen -- and wreaking havoc on the City with some of its friends.

👾

These friends will not be nearly as big as Cthulhu, nor quite as formidable, but will resemble versions of things found in the deep sea -- gnarly teeth, worm-like bodies, bioluminescent attachments, et cetera. Players may be as free as they want in their imaginations of these minions, but, as always: if you have any questions, please ask in the mod question thread of this entry.

I will be posting an event log for this when the event starts, so please wait for that to go up before doing any IC threading -- this is your plotting post, for all your plans, questions, and getting ducks in rows.

*drumrolls*...

OTHER BITS OF INFORMATION:

➤ Players on hiatus or who want to opt out of this event can have their characters take relative shelter on one of the other planets, or the Magistrates left will be securing some underground shelters for natives and Chosen who don’t want to or can’t deliver asskickings to cosmic gods.

➤ Cthulhu will do most of its damage mentally (see below point), but also because of its sheer size (yes, we're using the scale size in the linked picture of it above wHOOPS), will also fuck up some structures. Cthulhu's minions, however, will be doing most of the physical damage, especially if they get a person surrounded and overwhelmed.

➤ Prolonged contact or direct near presence with Cthulhu induces insanity. You won't go from 0 to 100 in a half-second, but it'll definitely be a steady medium-to-slow climb, depending on one's mental fortitude. The only people who are 100% immune to the insanity effects are Magistrates, however.

➤ By November 3rd (IC date), the combined efforts to beat back Cthulhu And Friends will have them driven back to the sea to hopefully stay there this time.

➤ If you have plans to kill your character off during this event, run it by the plot post before the event post goes up so we can keep a headcount.

Hi, players! For a small mod-run event/thing coming up, characters will be receiving one item from their home worlds or if they're an AU/CRAU, then they can make a request for something from their AU/CRAU worlds. Not both — AU/CRAU characters can choose where the item comes from, but in the interest of fairness, they can't pick one from each.

A few things of note:

▶ No one is forced to participate; you don't have to make a request if you don't want to.

▶ Fill out the form request for an item; this is so I have a list of who wants what and to make sure it's not too game-breaking. If your item is approved, you will get a comment reply saying so. If it isn't, I'll let you know that too, and you can certainly think of something else.

▶ Players have until the OOC date of AUGUST 15th, 2019 to make a request.

▶ Characters will NOT receive their approved items immediately. More on dates of the 'when' later.

▶ These are OOC requests, not IC ones. Meaning, you pick the item but your character doesn't ICly know about it yet, nor are you to assume has a request for the item been handwaved.

▶ The items can be magical/supernatural in nature, but please explain fully how they are. That is because these items may have to be nerfed some.

▶ The items are to be reasonably sized in nature. AKA: Don't ask for a Death Star.

▶ These requests are open to Chosen characters only. No NPCs/Magistrates.

▶ If you play more than one character, you may make one request per character.

▶ Comments are screened; any questions may be asked in the comments.

EVENT: END OF AN ERA

Late on the night of the 29th, the peace of 2 am is broken with a low, ominous whine that hangs in the air for moments before a thunderous crack resounds throughout the streets, shaking the city's foundation and rattling windows so violently that anything not firmly attached on the walls is vaulted off. Followed by the stomach churning high whine of steel and magic breaking, the sound held steady for what people would inaccurately call 'forever', fading out minutes later to the screaming din of jolted car alarms and sirens as first responders headed out. The night sky is marred, missing it's moon and stars but hosting something much more troubling; a fracture that crawled halfway up the barrier like a gnarled, fragmented finger. Be it from power or another light source, the fragment was emanating enough light for people to see clearly and judging by the sounds coming up from the street, the local populace was rightly concerned.

A busy, almost-panic sets into the people of the city over the next several days, some screaming about it being the end of days, some threatening to pack their things and hide, while others hotly debating how this has been allowed to happen in the first place. Over the next several weeks, surges of demons will be penetrating the City, with intent to loot and pillage. Power and City Services will get spotty and intermittent, getting worse as the attacks progress.

The Magistrates, being forced to flee their beds at the first strike, stay out on the bay and can be seen working as faint pillars of light that wavers with their efforts. Only the Empress and Temperance are left behind to tend to the citizens and answer questions.

Sinners, grab your swords and hardhats.

--
Assumed Questions:

Q: What's going on?
A: The barrier around the City is getting attacked.

Q: Can the Chosen help fight the demons or repair the barrier?
A: Yes. With demon attacks all over the city, the chosen will have a pleathera of opperunity to fight, and those magically inclined can contact The Empress.

Q: How long will this last?
A: This is starting on the 29th, and will last until the City of Sin isn't just the City and the bay. This is part of the efforts to widen the setting world.

Q: Can I opt out of this?
A: You can have your character hide, yes. IC avenues for this option have already been created in game.

S: I have a question you didn't already answer.
A: Leave it in a comment below!

- This will be addressed in the coming prominence as well, as it's starting that morning.

Mid-week, a massive bank of dark, heavy clouds rolls in, uncharacteristically early for the season. Most citizens in the City seem to think it means more snow - a blizzard, perhaps - but they’ll be pleasantly (?) surprised. By mid-day on Wednesday, February 26, the skies open up to a thunderstorm of epic proportions, soaking the entire City for the rest of the day. And then it stops, settling down to a drizzle around midnight.

Most would think that was it, but most would be wrong. The coming morning, citizens and Chosen will find that every time they open their mouth, they’re inclined towards something that not all are necessarily familiar with: the truth.

Do have fun with that.

This is the beginning of event notification for the truth event. It runs from now until August 22, and extent of participation is optional.

Event: The Truth Comes Out

Unbeknownst to most individuals within the City, there was something going on. It was a small something, at least, but perhaps with larger consequences. Most things in the City had larger consequences, after all, even if it wasn’t realised until much, much further down the line.

As of February 26, rain clouds roll in, uncharacteristically early for this time of year. There’s still snow on the ground, after all. The skies grow dark and heavy with rain, and as the noon hour rolls around, it’s as though they open up: it rains for hours, late into the evening, and even then, doesn’t seem eager to let up. Finally, around midnight, it settles down to a drizzle.

Come the morning of February 27, citizens and Chosen will find something a little odd going on: they’re very inclined to tell the truth. Perhaps it’s in little ways, like speaking one’s mind on things; perhaps it’s in bigger ways, like feeling as though those more important truths need to come out.

Sometimes, all people need is a little honesty, right?

This is a player-driven mini plot. Characters can be affected as much or as little as you like, and the effects will run the full in-game week, from February 27 - March 03. It begins for players on August 05 and runs through the 22.

This event will be mentioned in the upcoming State of the City and an announcement will be put up in the OOC comm as a notification that it has begun.

Event: Something Romantic This Way Comes

A few days before Valentine’s Day, an invitation goes out to everyone in the City, citizen and Chosen alike. This establishment doesn’t discriminate, after all: some of those Chosen are as regular customers as the citizens are. In fact, the establishment in question is a very nice apothecary and pharmacy, home to innumerable herbs and potions ingredients, crystals, other miscellaneous occult knickknacks, and general cures for what ails you.

For the holiday, such as it is, it appears that they’ve set up a small party to celebrate, and everyone is invited to join in. There’s said to be drink and music aplenty (with a bit of food floating around, too). Everyone loves a party, after all, and this one is largely for publicity. Their popularity has been waning of late.

One employee of the store, however, doesn’t see any of this as a good thing. He’s a little disgruntled, you see, and once he found out about the event going on, he takes it upon himself to create a handful of potions. These potions are set up around the party as filled chocolates, advertised as ‘something to share with your sweet’ and toted as a very hot ticket item for the evening.

As for anyone not interested? Well, have fun at the party anyway!

This is a mod-driven event and players are not obligated to participate in it. The party will take place from June 27 - 29, OOCly, or on February 14 in game time. There will be a log posted.

...begins.

---

It's sometime in the middle of the day that things really start to get weird. Surely, everyone had noticed the giant cloud creeping in over the City from somewhere out in the ocean. Some have been blaming the island, cursing it for the strange weather coming in; others think it's something more nefarious. The Magistrates don't seem concerned, if they're offering up any remarks at all, though.

The cloud itself is somewhat beautiful: it's grand and great, dark purple in its shadows and edges, fading into a more middling purple, with lavender spots now and then. The lightning that arcs through it seems to dance around the cloud, offering a rather beautiful sky-show to anyone who dares look. It's making for a very dark week, though - the cloud blocks out the sun, just as many clouds do.

And then, of course, there's that pop that you may hear, seemingly just behind you. Maybe that's just your ears.

Or maybe something happened.

Event: A Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes

Sometimes things in the City happen for a reason. Sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they occur naturally - or as naturally as anything does, around those parts - and blow in with the weather. During the morning of January 16, a strange looking storm rolls in, complete with dark purple clouds that seem to crackle with lightning, lighting the clouds up into lavender and royal purple tones. It’s probably abundantly clear to everyone that it’s definitely not a normal storm with normal lightning. Far from.

In fact, there’s no real explanation for it, and it doesn’t seem to bring any rain - which is nice - but it does bring other oddities with it. And those oddities culminate in a very nice pop.

Around noon, every Chosen in the City will hear that gentle pop, and it’s at that time that something very strange is going to happen: they’re going to swap powers.

---

This is a mod-driven event and players are not obligated to participate in it. The event will take place from April 1 to April 18, OOCly, or from January 16 to January 21 in game time. There will be a narrative announcement when the event kicks in, and another to signal its close, though players are free to backdate and/or backtag to their heart’s content.

Event: This is Halloween

There comes a time once every year when the veil is thinner between the realms, and in a place like the City of Sin - already vexed by the ability to draw people in from every place imaginable - that isn’t always a good thing.

Though the City has been seeming very even of late - the sun’s been shining and nothing’s come to visit since the Darkness - there’s always a hint that maybe it’s all luring the City’s populace into a false sense of security. Few seem truly worried about the coming holiday, but there have been things that give people pause. The shadows, for example, creeping around just outside of one’s vision.

But no one can quite prove that those are actually the City’s doing. Still, it doesn’t seem to stop things from happening.

Regardless of everything that’s been going on - or perhaps because of it - the City goes on as normal, just as it always has. In fact, the Emperor seems to have something special under wraps. Word has it there’s a party being planned for the holiday, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Instead of setting it up at the Tower, though, it’s a much more down to earth bash, set up at OHM with the help of a few Chosen.

Sometime on October 27 (OOC: August 1 - 3), every citizen and Chosen in the City will receive a rather modern-looking invitation outlining the details of said event.

As with any Halloween party, costumes are highly encouraged. On the lower level of the club, there will be a more raucous party for those who care to take part in club-style partying, while the VIP area is reserved for those who’d rather celebrate the party with class.

---

Starting on the 27th as well, unbeknownst to the City, the shadows lurking around everyone’s peripheral vision will begin to solidify. Creatures rather like Dementors seem to creep out of the shadows, looming ever closer. Perhaps they even get close enough to touch; in that event, the air will feel cold and full of dread, though the shadowy creatures don’t attack any more than that. Yet.

As of the 31st, things will shift around a little more. Instead of appearing as Dementors, the shadows will start to appear as nightmares from characters’ own worlds: dead lovers, family, friends; some kind of thing that goes bump in the night; you name it. It’s as though all those fears from the past suddenly came back to say hello, just for a night.

As of November 1st, things will start to ease back to normal. The shadows will return to simply being shadows, though the paranoia that comes along with them may not fade so easily.

This is a mod-run event spanning from August 1 - 15 OOCly (October 27 - 31 in-game). There will be a log for the main event as well as reminders in the coming State of the Game.

Event: The Darkness Arrives

For the last little while, things in the City have been even. Ish. The curfew provided most individuals a vexing time, particularly those who wanted to partake in the nightlife for whatever reason. But as of late, the reason for exactly why the curfew was placed became slightly more obvious.

Whether you’ve noticed or not, the fog creeping into the City every evening, growing more and more thick until the City’s streets are hard to navigate thanks to the inability to see five feet in front of you, has brought with it some nasty little creatures. Some citizens may remember the influential demons that reside in dark corners of the City. These are not them. These are demons all their own, and they’re out for blood.

It’s true that they’re a little easier to kill than the influential demons, requiring only a well-placed blow, but they’re also a lot more determined to take chunks out of people. The murder rate is up lately, and this is why.

But that isn’t the only thing the fog’s bringing in.

The smaller demons are just a precursor, a way of easing citizens into what Big Bad is coming. And there is indeed something more coming.

In the late hours of September 27 (OOC: May 5), a rather large demonic creature (think this sort of thing) will crawl out from the depths of the waters next to the City and set about casually making itself at home. The citizens whisper hushed warnings about the Darkness; its goal is the Tower, and though it’s not making true attempts to kill anyone living in the City, it certainly doesn’t seem bothered by a little death. It seems to have another purpose in mind, though what that is, no one knows.

---

This is a two-part event, and players are not obligated to participate in any part of it. The first part is the smaller demon attacks, taking place from now until May 4, OOCly. The second part is the large-scale battle, wherein a handful of characters will be needed to take the attacking demon out. Anyone keen on fighting back is able to sign up and coordinate with other players to figure out what’s going to happen. There will be a log for the second half of the plot, but involvement in the first half is up to players.

This is a mod-run plot, taking place from September 24 - 28 in game, and April 24 - May 8 OOCly. There will be reminders in the State of the Game, and a log will go up for players to fight the Darkness on May 4.

Event: Harvest Festival

In the few days before August 31st, inhabitants of the City might notice a little activity in the Gardens of Pleasure. One city block has been blocked off from traffic and over the days, stalls have been constructed on the sidewalk. Your favorite restaurant or cafe in the District? Busy little beavers, carting in extra goods and stocking up. What’s going on, you ask?

We’ll tell you.

The Moon would like to thank the Chosen for going and dealing with the Magistrates' little ‘problem’ on the island, and he’s doing it with a Festival. Set in something akin to a Japanese Summer Festival, there will be food, games and a few rides to express one Magistrate's gratitude for a job ...done.

The Moon will also be giving out small gifts to those who participated in the actual clearing of the island. Earthen, nature style jewelry, small trinkets, oils: that sort of thing. These gifts will arrive via animal, without prior Character knowledge, and Players will be able to request the items they want to receive in this post.

As such, we ask that all characters who participated in the Island Plot (ie: went to the island and spoke to or fought with demons in some regard) fill in the following form with their desired gift. Keep in mind that it does need to be a relatively small object. The Moon wants to show his gratitude for their help, but isn’t in the business of giving people massive, useful things, unfortunately.

Keep in mind that the mods may ask to tweak a gift if it doesn’t seem appropriate for whatever reason.

The festival will span two days, August 31st and September 1st (OOCly February 12th - 17th), and there will be a party style log posted for your RP pleasure.

Event: Is That an Island?

Of late, things have been relatively quiet for the Chosen and the citizens of the City. (Somewhere, there’s a sign reading 3 Days since last accident!.) The Magistrates have been keeping things going steady, there has been no additional news in regards to Justice’s latest mental break, and generally, things are all right.

With any luck, things will continue to be all right in the City. Outside the City, however - and there is an outside of the City - might be a different story.

On July 26, the Moon will take to the network in a rare appearance and invite all those willing to hop on a ferry to a nearby island. The citizens of the City don’t seem terribly surprised by said island, though it may be a surprise to the Chosen, who have believed, until now, that the City is a very isolated entity. Apparently, though, this island is being overrun by low- and mid-level demons, and that’s making it a not very nice place.

Suffice to say, he wants a little help.

This is a mod-run plot, taking place from July 26 to July 28 in game, and October 30 to November 7 OOCly. There will be a network post to announce the official invitation, and a log for characters to participate in.

Event: Welcome to the Coliseum

Shortly after the City-wide flooding, in the wake of the now-infamous Tower break-in, and just after a new City influence comes into play comes a rather odd little invitation: just as citizens were starting to feel as though things were tapering off, it’s obvious that they are not.

For the Chosen, at least.

Towards the end of the week, on July 3, every Chosen in the City will receive the same message: a video from Justice inviting everyone to come to the Coliseum in two days time for some kind of competition. He won’t tell anyone what the prize is, but it’s pretty obvious from the tone of his voice that he thinks it’s pretty good. Everyone will be strongly encouraged to come by, if they want to know what exactly it is they have a shot at.

All Chosen who show up at the appointed time and place will be met by Justice himself, and only at that point is he willing to divulge what it is he’s offering: the chance to go home, providing they’re willing to fight. Not just anyone, though - he expects them to fight each other in an all-out, Hunger Games-style brawl. The thing is that Justice isn’t exactly willing to let anyone who showed up go if they suddenly don’t want to participate. They’re stuck, for all intents and purposes.

Now, some Chosen may remember that Justice hasn’t exactly been a presence the last few weeks, and that rumours had been flying about his disappearance. Unfortunately, he’s not going to answer anything in regards to that, but it does seem like he’s just slightly pissed about things.

Of course, maybe that’s why he wants the Chosen to fight to what looks like it could be the death.

This is a mod-run plot, taking place from July 5 - 6 in game, and August 28 - September 2 OOCly. There will be an announcement in the State of the City to remind players, an official network from Justice that characters may respond to, and a log for all involved players.

Event: Only If In A Dream

With strange changes to the time of sunrise and set come strange changes to the City itself. It’s only natural for this sort of bizarre behaviour to foretell something a little ominously, after all; the City has never been one to spring changes upon its citizens.

Around 3 PM on May 1, the sun will begin to set. Too early, yet again, but with another little change: instead of being a beautiful sight of pinks and yellows streaking across a blue sky, it will appear almost as though a thunderstorm is coming up on the horizon, rolling in at precisely the same time. The sky will, for half an hour, be the dark, angry blue-purple of a bruise, with orange trying to peek through in places until dark finally falls. Shortly thereafter, the rain that looked like it was coming in will fall in a booming thunderstorm until the evening.

The next day, the citizens of the City of Sin get to find out precisely what that odd sunset and accompanying rainstorm foretold: at random intervals, people begin to fall asleep wherever they are. It doesn’t last for too long - five minutes in most cases, though some people can experience naps up to half an hour - but it’s definitely inconvenient. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you were doing, if the urge comes upon you to sleep, then sleep you will. There’s no fighting the drooping of eyelids this time.

Of course, what’s even more inconvenient is the fact that these brief naps appear to trigger something in the network devices that displays whatever characters happen to be dreaming about at the time. Hopefully it’s nothing incriminating.

Fortunately, everything in the City must come to an end, and late on May 6, another thunderstorm will roll in, lasting the entire night. When everyone wakes up the next morning, the strange City-wide narcolepsy won’t be a problem any more, but the results of it will remain.

What no one knows - not even the Magistrates, or so they claim - is that this is a very direct response to some of the political goings-on of late. Someone isn’t happy.

This is a mod-run plot, taking place from May 1 to May 6 in game, and February 14 to March 3 OOCly. There will be an announcement in the State of the City to remind players, and a short mod notice to declare the event officially open on the day of.

Hello, players! Friendly neighbourhood Momo here on important mod business, announcing an event you never knew you wanted. This is a complex and intricate plot, so make sure to read this entire post. As you likely all know, I'm the mod of this game you call home, City of Sin, and as quite a few of you know, I also play in a lovely game called Throne of Shadows, where my dear friend Wizera mods.

Anyway, Momo and Wizera have decided to throw a loop in both games by having a crossover event! That's right! From roughly March 15 to March 18 (in game-time), the Egime is going to be docking in the City of Sin itself. The Egime is an airship - and the current setting of Throne of Shadows - and has a lovely tendency to float around in transit until it finds a good place to dock. Further information on it can be found over here.

Of course, a docking event is more than just landing in a new place. It's an event. So what's going to be happening? Well, the City of Sin normally causes certain emotions (lust, wrath, greed, you get the idea) to manifest in people, and amplifies what they already feel. The Egime's arrival, however, is going to throw an interesting kink into this problem. Because there are so many people on the Egime who also live in the City of Sin, these emotions are going to manifest themselves in the form of seven different kinds of deadly demons. Full descriptions of these demons can be found here, and they are, naturally, quite dark in nature. (Be warned: there are minor trigger warnings for discussions of water and spiders; these are found in the last two demons, so if this bothers you, please feel free to skip over those sections.)

As if fighting demons wasn't going to complicate the candidates' lives enough, they'll also be given the opportunity to interact with the PCs and perhaps some of the NPCs from the City of Sin. NPCs will likely be limited to one or two threads. Please talk to Momo if you want to request someone.

One last note before we get going: players from both games are more than welcome to plot with each other in these plotting posts! Mingle around! Meet someone new! The plotting post for Throne of Shadows can be found here!

But first, some FAQs. Since this is a complex plot, please, please, please read these thoroughly and ask questions in the appropriate sub-threads...
