While December is going to be an even more stress free AC for everyone, let's chat about AC changes you might like to see starting in 2020, yeah?

First off, hiatuses: There's been more confusion about this, so no matter what you all want to do about AC, any hiatuses will be an automatic exemption from having to check into AC. Indefinite and consecutive hiatuses still won't be allowed, but for that month you need a hiatus? You don't have to check in. You must officially post it to the hiatus page when your hiatus begins, however, but that's it.

And now, AC chatter:

Option one for AC is: Leave it as is. AC is open all month long, just post one link to a thread with more than one comment from your character in it. The thread must be from the month being checked only.

Option two for AC: AC is open all month long, and you can pass AC with two threads (for each character you play) started within the past two months, so long as there are at minimum four comments from your character in each month. That's an average of one tag a week in a thread at minimum. Meaning for April's AC for example: You can use a thread from a post that was started in February as long as your character has four comments timestamped in February and four timestamped in March. If you use a thread from a post that was started in March, you just need four March timestamped comments. If you use a thread from something started in April, you just need more than one comment, just like the current system.

Post your votes and thoughts in the comments! Comments are not screened in this entry, so if you want to speak to the mod privately, please take it to the mod contact page or PM since your privacy won't be able to be ensured in the comments section of this entry.

EDIT DECEMBER 30th, 2019: THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED FOR VOTING. HERE ARE TWO THINGS TO KNOW NOW THAT IT IS CLOSED:

01. → Comments to this entry are temporarily screened while votes are being counted; comments will be unscreened as they are counted (since I couldn't do a traditional DW poll for this -- paid account features, sigh -- this is how I am keeping track of which ones have been counted). Don't worry, your comment will be publicly visible again shortly, unless you reach out and request otherwise of me. meaning that if anyone wants their comment to remain screened after the temporary screen, I will absolutely do so. Just ask!
02. → Expect results to be announced no later than January 1st, as that is when the new AC post will go up. That post will either contain a "no change" message, or one detailing the AC change, depending how this count shakes out.

Hello Players -

Unfortunately, our last post lacked some finer points and details that you as a player base need to be aware of. Last we talked, Momo was stepping down and we asked if anyone wanted to step into her place and take over helping us really write and put out the setting and it's subtle changes. While we got a few deeply appreciated offers of side help, it's a painful fact of life that everyone involved has their own stuff and schedules to take care of, and there's no one to take over that position so freely.

We have loved modding CoS and I am personally pained at the idea of it closing but it's only fair that it be put to you for input before any decisions are made.

Let me clarify: Closing is our very last option and choice. While Aria and I don't have the time to keep up with a full game, we would like to convert CoS into a sandbox game with a loose structure, minimal AC and month long Prominence influences. With this, we would like to expand the world out a little from the City that we've all come to love. While this would demand more Player v Player plots instead of Player v Environment over the month, there would be plenty to do once the barrier is broken, starting with a war with the outside realm.

The City has been home to many stories and I think, with a little tweaking, could house many new ones. But this is now a community and we want to know what you guys think. Like it? Rather we close? Let's decide what we'd collectively like to do with this place in 2018!

We notice a lot of you have more than one character. We also notice that it can be hard sometimes to get full AC for more than one, especially where you might need a save and all of a sudden AC seems insurmountable. You have quiet months, or RL kicks your butt, or an event isn’t one your character would be interested in... we understand.

So, for May’s activity check (April's play), we’re going to trial something new.

There are three changes - the first is the number of comments required, the second is the number of threads accepted, and the third is sticking to the month of the check.

If you play ONE character in CoS, your AC requirement is still 15 comments for a normal month, 20 comments if you needed a Save. Not more than three threads can be used to pass AC, and the minimum comment count per thread is five.

If you play TWO characters in CoS, your AC requirement is 10 comments per character for a normal month, 15 comments if you needed a Save. Not more than two threads per character can be used to pass AC, and the minimum comment count per thread is five.

If you play THREE character in Cos, your AC requirement is 7 comments per character for a normal month, 10 comments if you needed a Save. The 7 or 10 comment requirement must be a single thread. If you absolutely have to use two threads for a character, your comment requirement is a minimum of four comments per thread. Yes, that means you need at least 8 if you split it.

Threads posted for AC must contain the majority of comments in the month being checked (preferably from a post in that month, though late posts from the month before are acceptable), with not more than two comments per thread in the week of AC check itself. So in May, you should be linking threads that are on posts made in April, or the very last week of March where the majority of your comments are in April. In this instance, the majority means more than one half.

We hope the trial of these changes will help you to manage AC while building meaningful CR and keep the game flowing. Remember, it’s just a trial, and if you hate it or it fails dismally, we’ll go back to our current model of 15 comments per character, with backtagging permitted if it hasn’t already been used for AC, and see if we can come up with something else.

If anyone needed to post a save for May, it will fall under this trial. So if you have two characters and one needs a save? That one will need 15 comments, not twenty.

If you have any thoughts or feedback you’d like to share, please do so below. If you’re not comfortable commenting publicly, please feel free to PM, PP, or email the mod account. All those details are here.

Again, this is just a trial, to see how it works.

Greetings, lovely player-base.

Please take a moment to reacquaint yourselves with the City of Sin rules, with particular attention to the section around AC (this link takes you straight there, but read them all again anyway, it's good for you).

There has been a change to save requirements. If you need a save, our requirement now is 20 comments, not 30.

Anyone who was advised of needing one or who requested one this AC round will be notified.

Thanks,

Your Mod Team
