Event: Is That an Island?

Of late, things have been relatively quiet for the Chosen and the citizens of the City. (Somewhere, there’s a sign reading 3 Days since last accident!.) The Magistrates have been keeping things going steady, there has been no additional news in regards to Justice’s latest mental break, and generally, things are all right.

With any luck, things will continue to be all right in the City. Outside the City, however - and there is an outside of the City - might be a different story.

On July 26, the Moon will take to the network in a rare appearance and invite all those willing to hop on a ferry to a nearby island. The citizens of the City don’t seem terribly surprised by said island, though it may be a surprise to the Chosen, who have believed, until now, that the City is a very isolated entity. Apparently, though, this island is being overrun by low- and mid-level demons, and that’s making it a not very nice place.

Suffice to say, he wants a little help.

This is a mod-run plot, taking place from July 26 to July 28 in game, and October 30 to November 7 OOCly. There will be a network post to announce the official invitation, and a log for characters to participate in.

FAQ

- How long is this plot taking place?
The official timeline for characters heading out to clear the demons off the island will be from July 26 - 28: basically a weekend. At that point, the characters will be ferried back to the City.

- What’s the island like?
The island is a relatively small little thing - think of a small island resort - that can probably be crossed in around half an hour to an hour, depending on how fast you walk. There are gorgeous beaches and a forested area towards one end, as well as a little town set up. Most notably, it appears to be free from the City’s influence. Instead, when characters get there, they feel a little more relaxed than they might be used to.

- By what means do we have to get rid of the demons?
Whatever means possible. If that means killing them in a massive spree and leaving the bodies to get washed out to sea, so be it. If that means chatting with them and asking them to maybe stop it, then that’s fine too! Basically, it’s up to each character how they want to deal with the problem.

- What are the demons going to do?
The demons are effectively trying to set up a little area for themselves, separate from the rest of the City. Think of them as a tiny separatist culture who aren’t happy and wanted to get away. Some of the mid-level demons can be negotiated with, though there are those who refuse to listen and prefer to fight. The low-level demons - ie, the shadow demons typically seen in town - are a little less open to talk, but can usually be taken care of pretty easily. For some reason, most of the demons here are of a lower strength than those in town, so the problem shouldn’t be too hard to deal with.

- What happens if my character gets injured?
They’ll probably need medical attention. Though there’s very much the possibility for death, these demons aren’t really of the homicidal variety, and probably won’t try to kill someone except in self-defence.

- What if I don’t want to participate at all? Will I miss my opportunity to play with the island?
Participation is 100% optional, don’t worry, and you won’t miss anything. There will definitely be more fun to be had at the island if your character isn’t the fighting type.

Is Dante allowed to have his sword and guns? He would only really use them against a demon who prefers to fight instead of negotiate. Rebellion and his guns (Ebony and Ivory) are his main weapons of use against demons in the DMC series, so I thought I would ask.

FRICK I realize maybe I should have asked first. Faye has packed a small bag with just a towel, lotion, sunglasses, and her gun that isn't even fully loaded. Obviously her priorities on how this will turn out are skewed. Are these items okay? Can totally edit it out if not. Also, asking because others are asking about what's alright to take. I assumed these items were okay since they'd probably end up totally useless. At most, I guess the towel can be used as a tourniquet, but that's not even something guaranteed to happen.

Charles: No plans for him, as of yet. If no one has any requests for the telepath, he'll likely sit this one out.

Caius: Will not be involved. He's got too much going on with his club and the last time they received an invitation, a lot of people died. So he's adamantly refusing to give a fuck.

Emma: She will be heading down there to find Graham's heart (with Belle) on a separate part of the island.

Draco is opting to not do the thing, for a wide variety of reasons. Mostly that he's not that into helping. Whoops.

Lydia, on the other hand, will be heading out, just because she can. She's getting a little antsy with just the City to roam around in. So she's hoping that Caius doesn't explode while she's gone for the brief period of time. I'm totally open to her teaming up with someone!

Faye will most likely be going, depending on the network post. If so, I'm open to accidental/last minute teaming-up, because Faye has a bad habit of going off alone and rarely initiates a team-up. She'll be taking her Glock 30, but it doesn't have a lot of rounds left, so she isn't looking to go trigger happy or anything like that.

That being said, if someone would rather I don't tag them with Faye in the event (I'll most likely be tagging out more than top-leveling) in case it interrupts something pre-planned or whatever other reason, let me know in a pm.

He'll be going because he can't let all the people he knows go without him. That and he wants to know more about this place - not just the city but what's around it. He's pretty handy in a fight, but it won't be his go to means. Hopefully he can find a peron or two to team up with.

Ace is doing this little excursion, though he's probably going to be more subdued than most might think. He's actually going to try to talk to some of these f'ing demons. Not to say he's against pounding some if he has to, but this time his listening more than hitting.
