Hacker Plot - Taking Over the Network - OOC Information
A-YO City of Sin, Lily here to bring you some information about an ongoing plot that some of our computer savvy characters are involved in that will, inevitably affect the City, by and large. For those who don't have me on Plurk, let me give you the rundown.
Over the past month, Elliot here has been quietly working on why exactly the City network can't be hacked. So, after talking to some people, came to learn that the Magistrates do not take kindly to the Chosen poking around where their noses don't belong and tend to make the Chosen's business their business. What does this mean? Well, it means they are listening and watching everything your character does.
And what do we say? OH HELL NO.
In an effort to gain some control, Elliot (along with his secondary personality, Mr Robot) are assembling a group of people to design a power source and server that will allow them to effectively switch out the Magistrate network for a Chosen run network, which will be, you guessed it, completely secure and off-limits to any poking around done by the Higher Ups.
What changes? Not much. In fact, not only will the Chosen network include secure text, audio and video with privacy filters, but also game and music apps that will allow anyone that comes to the City with their own device the option to share their music with other Chosen (think Spotify) and other possible options that are similar to other features you'd find on a mobile phone.

* Is there an opt-out? Seeing as the plot has been approved by our rad moderator and effects the entire City, no. But honestly, you'll want the new network. It's going to be WAY better.
* When's this all taking place? Things are low-key happening right now, however, it will all conclude on November 9th, in-game (September 13th, 14th and 15th, OOCly), the Magistrate network will go dark for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour (look, we have professionals on this ahem) and bam, a network by one of the group will inform the Chosen of the changes.
* Is it too late to get my character involved in this? They're computer/tech savvy! Not at all! Just let me know in the comments section below and we can get them on board.
* Can my character make a request for specific features or options? As long as our fearless mod leader doesn't object, yes they can! If you think your character would make a suggestion/request, post it down below and I can doublecheck.
