The Darkness Arrives
Event: The Darkness Arrives

For the last little while, things in the City have been even. Ish. The curfew provided most individuals a vexing time, particularly those who wanted to partake in the nightlife for whatever reason. But as of late, the reason for exactly why the curfew was placed became slightly more obvious.
Whether you’ve noticed or not, the fog creeping into the City every evening, growing more and more thick until the City’s streets are hard to navigate thanks to the inability to see five feet in front of you, has brought with it some nasty little creatures. Some citizens may remember the influential demons that reside in dark corners of the City. These are not them. These are demons all their own, and they’re out for blood.
It’s true that they’re a little easier to kill than the influential demons, requiring only a well-placed blow, but they’re also a lot more determined to take chunks out of people. The murder rate is up lately, and this is why.
But that isn’t the only thing the fog’s bringing in.
The smaller demons are just a precursor, a way of easing citizens into what Big Bad is coming. And there is indeed something more coming.
In the late hours of September 27 (OOC: May 5), a rather large demonic creature (think this sort of thing) will crawl out from the depths of the waters next to the City and set about casually making itself at home. The citizens whisper hushed warnings about the Darkness; its goal is the Tower, and though it’s not making true attempts to kill anyone living in the City, it certainly doesn’t seem bothered by a little death. It seems to have another purpose in mind, though what that is, no one knows.
---
This is a two-part event, and players are not obligated to participate in any part of it. The first part is the smaller demon attacks, taking place from now until May 4, OOCly. The second part is the large-scale battle, wherein a handful of characters will be needed to take the attacking demon out. Anyone keen on fighting back is able to sign up and coordinate with other players to figure out what’s going to happen. There will be a log for the second half of the plot, but involvement in the first half is up to players.
This is a mod-run plot, taking place from September 24 - 28 in game, and April 24 - May 8 OOCly. There will be reminders in the State of the Game, and a log will go up for players to fight the Darkness on May 4.

FAQ
- - My character is a fighter! What can I do here?
Wonderful, we love fighters! Here, at least. All you need to do is comment below and do a little plotting with your fellow Sinners. A team isn’t necessary, but it is recommended, so that everyone can do a little threading against the Darkness without it just being by oneself. Of course, if it does turn out you’re threading by yourself, let us know, and we’ll make sure you have fun too.
- Are there any limits to what my character can do against the Darkness?
Absolutely not! Any limits set upon character powers are lifted for this, though some of the more important City buildings will still be impervious to damage. Most of the City isn’t, though, so do try to be careful. Try to aim for the Darkness instead.
- Will anyone be playing the Darkness, or will it all be godmoded?
Your lovely moderators will be playing it! Please give us a bit of leeway on this, though. We’ll do our best to stay on top of the threads, but if we’re slow, it’s probably because we have something else to do.
- Will the Magistrates be involved in this at all?
They will have some hand in the fight against the Darkness, yes! It will likely be largely handwaved, but players can ask moderators for details on what would happen.
- What happens if the players haven’t defeated the Darkness by the plot’s end?
It will be assumed that they have, with a bit of help from the Magistrates. They won’t be having a massive hand in it, so it will be mostly left up to the Chosen to manage!
- What happens to all the buildings that get destroyed in the meantime, and all the citizens who died as collateral damage?
The City’s going to be a very depressing looking place for a little while, isn’t it? Don’t worry, any Chosen-owned buildings (and other named businesses) will be safe from harm by the magic of Modliness.
- I don’t really want to participate in that. What should I do?
Feel free to have your character do as they normally would! Just make sure to watch out for the districts that might get destroyed. We’ll try to keep it relatively limited.
- Which districts is the Darkness going to be in?
It will start near the docks, between Shantytown and Leisurebrook, and gradually move inwards towards the Tower. This means that it will cut near or through those districts, and the Gardens of Pleasure.

Killian lives in the Coliseum district, so hopefully his home will be fine, but his about-to-open business is in Leisurebrook, so he'll be stepping up to defend it. He knows how to use a sword, and a gun.
Jessica has super strength and as such does not need a weapon (and probably can do more damage without one). She lives in the Coliseum district, but she'll show up to fight things somewhere else too.

In addition, Gold is capable of healing and establishing protective barriers (though given enough of a pounding the latter can be broken).
edit due to updating, Gold will only be around during the first day and the last (when the big bad happens) and he will be most active when he returns.
If anyone wants to see a P.O'd Dark One, the 27th is your chance.no subject
This can only lead to good things.
Belle: Belle will be trying to research the Darkness and trying to find ways to stop its progress. She'll end up getting caught outside and cornered by a demon, as well as injured. She'll survive the event, thanks to Gold. I'm down for her to work alongside anyone or get trapped outside with someone.
Selene: Selene was made for this event. She's going to be trying to protect the city, defending the citizens and fighting back against the demons. She's a warrior, so she'll try to rally those who can fight. She might also try to organize training to help those that need to learn defense. She'd love to have some others fight at her side or the chance to rescue someone.
I'm up for anything with these three!

Steve could also help Selene with the training if you want.

maybe Erik's apartmentkicking ass because she isn't afraid of this bullshit. Open to allll kinds of fight/running/ trapped in the night somewhere scenarios.Second half: Teaming up with Team CSPD and Co for Meta badassary.
Matthew: First half: Trapped in the night half of all of this, Matthew still has to feed, and that will take place down in the Red Light District. Once there, he'll park himself, but he's open to everything, including rescuing pretty women with his sword.
Second half: ???
Hit me up.

He was friends with Damon Salvatore in the old city and allowed feeding now and then. He also allowed Some to feed on him. He was a grue who required human flesh to live. Diana was like a daughter to him. He covered for her needs when necessary. He's cool with the lyfe.

Steve: is an Avenger so he will be defending and trying to keep people safe.
I would love to expand my cr in this event, so I am going to work to try and do that.

However, if any powered fighters need some quick power backup, that's her jam. She doesn't need training to use someone's borrowed power/skills well, in fact canonically she's sometimes had better control than the original owner. Anyone she touches to borrow powers will also end up in her head, though. Dirty secrets, hidden desires, the whole shebang. Since it would be short contact, though, she wouldn't have access to memories/etc for very long. Likewise, her power borrowing lasts about a 1:60 second ratio.

Do you want to have ours meet at all during this? Tiny little banshee thing runs into a giant unbreakable man?

She will ALSO be getting one hell of a vision heralding the Darkness' arrival. Tears of blood, writhing in agony, the whole nine yards. So there's that, too. People are welcome to see it, if they want.

5000 years late....
Erik: Open for Things during small demon time. One day, though, is dedicated to tracking down some muggers with Claire. Big Bad time, he will call Devi, Wanda, Lorna, Claire and Kate for the battle and end up getting a bonus Rogue.
Jack: Jack will witness Zoey's vision, but no plans otherwise if anyone wants him for something.
Aramis: No plans at the moment, if anyone wants him for something!

Lydia will be putting some of her hand to hand skills to work, and will have one encounter with enough demons to realise that her scream can be weaponised with a bit of work. She will also be screaming for the beginning of the event, and helping to protect Caius' club later on. She may be more affected by this week's prominence in the form of finally wanting to prove her worth.
