Possible Scenarios01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!
02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?
03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out its doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously, that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.
04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.
05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.
06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.
07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!
Adam Parrish | the Raven Cycle
Adam did his best, most days, to avoid trouble. Ronan didn't count; he was a decent sort of trouble, the sort that knew better than to get him involved in things that were too much for him. Besides that, he was a normal sort of trouble - he was teenage-boy trouble.
He was not mugger trouble, that was what the Narration was getting at.
So the fact that someone had crowded Adam into the wall was not something he was equipped to deal with, not really. He told them, time and again, his Southern accent getting more and more pronounced, that he had nothing, that he wasn't from here, that he didn't even have a damned jacket on him. The guy seemed to determined, though, and finally pulled a knife, lunging towards Adam's gut.
Something flared up between them, a shimmery gauze of a shield, brief as anything, and the knife caught in mid-air as though stuck in something else entirely, even when the mugger dropped his hand in shock, stepping back some.

Feeling incredibly pissed off he paused at the corner with the mugger, just in time to see the kid produce some sort of shield.
"Don't just fucking stand there, run." The hell was this kid thinking?
no subject
He frowned briefly - he'd only just managed to get the space to actually get away - but he wasn't about to argue. He didn't bother regarding the mugger or the knife; instead, Adam merely slid against the wall, darting towards Penny and past as he burst into a bit of a run, though he did stop a few metres behind the larger man.
no subject
He then turned towards Adam and began walking down the sidewalk as if nothing happened. He figured the mugger would be out for a while. "Come on. Don't just stand there with your mouth open." Penny didn't care where Adam went but it was probably a good idea to go somewhere that was away from the guy that was trying to mug him.

He too turned abruptly and began to follow along. "Tell me you know what's going on here."
no subject
"Not a fucking clue but it looks like we're stuck to the city." Which he knew intimately.

"Right," he replied, Southern accent coming out hard as the vowels dragged out. If that was how this was going to be, then he could be just as angry. He didn't actually need anyone to give him the details on this place. He had ears of his own; they'd give him all the details he needed. "I'll take that into consideration, then. Thanks for the save. See you around, maybe."

"Come with me," She said, not bothering to cover up her stupid lingerie. He was going to get an eyefull, but that wasn't really important in the moment. She'd seen him deflect the knife. He was like her. There were other mutants in the City, but they weren't handsome young men.
no subject
"Sure," he replied, though it was generally a throwaway comment because he was already moving, stepping around the guy and the knife, swallowing thickly to calm himself back down and soothe slightly frazzled nerves. Where the hell was he? This wasn't Aglionby.
no subject
"Now we can go. I'm Emma Frost. Welcome to the City." She motioned for him to follow, her platform heels clunking loudly on the concrete, except when they crunched on the snow. "It's much colder this time. I'm not a fan."
no subject
"Adam Parrish. And...thanks, I think." The jury was still out. He'd almost rather be back at school, even if being here seemed to suggest a vacation of a sort. Still, he was taking it with a grain of salt until he had more answers. "What, you've been here before?"

She frowned a little at his careful neutrality. "You're an awful liar. What was it? Telekinesis, some kind of personal shield?"
no subject
"Lead on, then," Adam prompted her, inhaling slowly at her frown. "Maybe I just don't want to answer. Why do you want to know?"

"You okay?" He jogged over, visually checking Adam over for injuries as he got closer. "Should I ring the shades? Uh, the police, I mean."
no subject
He stared after the mugger, making sure he was gone, before sliding a careful glance towards Thom. He was untouched, thankfully - not even the slightest injury - but a little shaken. "I think I'll be all right without. What would we call in? 'Hi, I nearly got mugged, but the guy ran off at the last minute'?"
no subject
"Uh. You know, maybe we should move somewhere a little safer. More populated with some better lighting, yea?" He gestured back to the alley entrance with a nod, anxious to get somewhere a little safer before more trouble found them.
no subject
He snapped out of his reverie at the next remark, glancing over to Thom curiously. In the back of his mind, he registered that he didn't feel quite all there. One hand had clenched into a fist of its own volition. Not good.
"Yeah, let's do that," Adam agreed hastily, unclenching his hand and splaying his fingers out wide, stretching them out. "Uh. Towards the police station, maybe? I don't know where it is, but maybe if we just keep walking, we'll figure it out."
Onward and upward, he determined, hearing Gansey's voice in his ears, reassuring and cheerful. This was an adventure; he'd be fine. He could figure out a city just fine, even if it seemed to be ten times bigger than Henrietta was. Before Thom could look more worried, Adam started to move, striding purposefully towards the mouth of the alley, where he could see bigger, shinier buildings in the distance.
no subject
"I'm not sure either," He mumbled, following close behind Adam. Somewhere in another alley a door was slammed and the noise made Thom start and nearly run into Adam in an attempt to get even closer. Once out of the alley, a good deal of his anxiety seemed to melt away. It was obvious he still wasn't comfortable with the situation, still a little jumpy, but at least now he didn't look ready to bolt.
"You wanna ask someone? Someone around here aught to know," He suggested, eyeing the small convenience store not far from the alley's exit. The people working there likely would be able to point them in the right direction.
no subject
"Yeah, let's try that. Maybe we can get our bearings a little more. They might know something about what's going on," Adam suggested. Locals always knew what was going on, and if this place was anything like Henrietta, they'd know a newbie when they saw them. Maybe they'd even know how they got there.
He gestured for Thom to follow along with him as he headed towards the convenience store, glancing both ways before stepping out, lest someone run into him. As he walked, he addressed Thom again: "Are you new too?"
no subject
"New?" He echoed, brow furrowing for a moment, "You say that like you've just moved here. I... ehm, I'm just visiting, I guess."
This had to be the result of a portal malfunction. No worries, he'd figure out where he was, get to where he needed to be, and then go home. Or, better yet, find one of his friends who would then take him home.
no subject
"I'd like to consider it visiting, though." And that was the truth. He just had a bad feeling about it all.
