Possible Scenarios01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!
02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?
03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out its doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously, that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.
04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.
05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.
06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.
07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

"Lead on, then," Adam prompted her, inhaling slowly at her frown. "Maybe I just don't want to answer. Why do you want to know?"

Then again, she was talking in his head, so who was really disconcerting?
At the very least, though, he could almost hear it echoing through both ears. He hadn't felt that in ages.
Though Adam didn't know the actual process of how this worked, he assumed it was simple: like thinking directly at her with intention. He was sure she'd correct him if he did it wrong. That all depends. I can't do anything like this.

A passing stranger would do as well. He was obviously checking Emma's legs out, so she felt no shame about reading his mind. They were in the Red Lantern district, and they were going int he right direction to get to the Tower district. "Hurry up, I imagine you're as cold as me in those wet clothes. I know where we're going, now."
no subject
"You do?" He asked, realising a moment later that she probably did. There was that guy over there, clearly checking her out, and if she had the ability to read minds, then it was an easy leap. "You do," he clarified, clearing his throat a little.
"Yeah, let's get out of here. You're probably freezing out here. I'd suggest a cab, but I doubt they'll take the currency I have." What little of it he had.
no subject
"Good thought. Just a moment." She drew out her cellphone and called a cab company, humming a little. One fake name later she hung up and smiled at Adam. There was a nearby bar, so Emma motioned toward it. "Let's wait for the cab in there."
no subject
Not that he was going to argue with it, if it got them out of the cold. Henrietta's weather hadn't prepared him for this, not in the slightest.
"Sure," he agreed, though he wasn't sure they'd let two teenagers in there. He could maybe lie through his teeth and tell them they were old enough, or else figure out some explanation that would get them feasibly hanging out. Maybe the barkeep wouldn't care. Either way, Adam led the way over to the bar, hurrying them towards it before grabbing and holding the door for her.
no subject
Nobody took any notice of them. It was pretty crowded for this time of day. New Year's Eve was a great time to be hiding in a bar, but not a great time to be needing a cab from said bar.
Emma slid up to the bartender, giving him a charming smile. She ordered a martini, then gestured for Adam to order as well. This was the City of Sin, surely they could get away with a little underage drinking.
no subject
And it was true, there was enough people in the bar besides them that two new bodies didn't register to anyone at all, not even the bartenders, initially. He was fine with that, Adam decided as he slid onto a bar stool, exhaling softly as he tried to regain his bearings. This place gave him a bad vibe, but he'd have to scry when he got...somewhere else. No way was he doing it in the men's room of a dive bar.
She was gesturing to him, though, and Adam blinked, mentally rushing to catch up. "Water for me, thanks. Designated Driver," he offered immediately, Southern accent continuing to creep into his tone. She'd probably call him out on it; that was fine.

"You ought to be careful walking around this City. A handsome young man like yourself can get into all sorts of trouble on accident."
no subject
"You think?" He offered a quiet chuckle, one brow quirking upwards as he thought about it, about back home. She had no idea. Or maybe she did, if she was reading his mind. "How do you suggest I avoid it?"
no subject
"I can do so much for you," she said, leaning in so she could speak softer and get closer to him. Unfortunately she chose the wrong side and was whispering into his deaf ear.
no subject
There was still the matter of clarifying what exactly she profited from and how, and after a moment, he asked exactly that: "What kind of trouble are we talking here?"
He was, of course, largely unaware that she'd said anything into his deaf ear, short of the fact that she'd leaned in to speak to him. Obviously, Adam didn't catch it, but he didn't need to let her know that. Not just yet.
no subject
"Let's just say my life has been exciting. Probably a little like yours, though I doubt we have the same exact experiences. You strike me as someone who knows what it's like to be different from your peers in a way they can't comprehend."
She's fishing now and she knows it, but he's a curious young man and she's interested in him.
no subject
Or maybe he'd have just looked at her. He wasn't totally sure what was even happening right now. It all sort of felt like a dream, actually.
"I doubt we do as well," Adam agreed carefully, tipping his head slightly to one side, then moved his good ear a little more forward, so he could perhaps hear her lower murmurs if she did so again. "But...yes, I guess you could say I'm different. Not for lack of trying, though," he added, perhaps a touch bitterly.
"If they can't comprehend it, part of that was because they never tried."
no subject
That was something she could be honest about. He had interesting powers and he hadn't freaked out when he learned what she could do. That alone made him a worthwhile target for her attention.
She put her hand on his knee. "I'd like to get to know you, Adam."
no subject
"In what way?" He asked plainly, eyes dropping down to her hand. It wasn't like he was necessarily opposed, but he had other priorities right that moment. Like namely figuring out what the hell was going on.
no subject
Her hand remained where it was, but she didn't press any closer. It felt good to be in control, to be the aggressor. Too often recently she'd played the part of blushing virgin and the opportunity to change that narrative pleased her.

"Maybe I'll turn out to be crazy or something."

But he couldn't start losing himself this early in.
"True enough. There's no one with expectations of what you are or should do. You can do whatever you want." He liked that, in truth.

She hoped to run into mutants who needed training. Perhaps Adam would be one of them. That hope was the main reason she hadn't read his mind yet.
no subject
He probably did need a bit of training, to be quite frank. She wasn't entirely wrong. He just wasn't a mutant.
