Possible Scenarios
01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!

02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out its doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously, that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.

04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.

05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.

06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.

07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

He'd ignored her advance. That was unusual. Emma withdrew and studied him for a moment. He knew she was beautiful, he'd seen her all but naked. Was he gay? Maybe. Oh well.

"Let's just say my life has been exciting. Probably a little like yours, though I doubt we have the same exact experiences. You strike me as someone who knows what it's like to be different from your peers in a way they can't comprehend."

She's fishing now and she knows it, but he's a curious young man and she's interested in him.

Only partly. Also partly straight. That was the funny thing about being bisexual. Of course, it didn't help that he hadn't heard it; he might have responded otherwise.

Or maybe he'd have just looked at her. He wasn't totally sure what was even happening right now. It all sort of felt like a dream, actually.

"I doubt we do as well," Adam agreed carefully, tipping his head slightly to one side, then moved his good ear a little more forward, so he could perhaps hear her lower murmurs if she did so again. "But...yes, I guess you could say I'm different. Not for lack of trying, though," he added, perhaps a touch bitterly.

"If they can't comprehend it, part of that was because they never tried."

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-03-19 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"They never do. They expect us to bend down to their level." Emma was equally bitter. "I want to understand you. I suspect you're worth the effort."

That was something she could be honest about. He had interesting powers and he hadn't freaked out when he learned what she could do. That alone made him a worthwhile target for her attention.

She put her hand on his knee. "I'd like to get to know you, Adam."

The faintest twitch of a smile came to his lips when she commiserated with him; she got it. That was nice. Of course, there was still the rest to trudge through, that whole attention thing that she was pinning on him that he doubted he could ignore for long. It made him wary, to be quite frank, but he'd see where it went.

"In what way?" He asked plainly, eyes dropping down to her hand. It wasn't like he was necessarily opposed, but he had other priorities right that moment. Like namely figuring out what the hell was going on.

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-04-10 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"In the way nobody else has so far. I can't help but be curious about you. There are so few people close to my age who spark my interest." She tended to go for older men, men with power no matter how benign. Of course, Adam had power too, so maybe he wasn't so far off from her usual attraction.

Her hand remained where it was, but she didn't press any closer. It felt good to be in control, to be the aggressor. Too often recently she'd played the part of blushing virgin and the opportunity to change that narrative pleased her.

"I only just got here," he pointed out, voice dropping slightly. She didn't seem like the type to be easily dissuaded; arguing or fighting it probably wouldn't get him anywhere. So he flicked his gaze back up to her, curious as to where all of this could possibly go. He didn't know where he could get her that she couldn't get herself.

"Maybe I'll turn out to be crazy or something."

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-04-13 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"For all you know I find that attractive," Emma countered with a smile. She withdrew her hand and chuckled a little. "Beside, you'd have to be crazy to like it here. Maybe you'll turn out to be the right kind of insane."

He couldn't help but smirk faintly at that, amused at the very idea of it. "Are the chances of that good, in your experience?"

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-04-15 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
"No. It's not good for people who have a future back home. Nobody likes to have to adapt to this much change." She sipped her martini and shrugged. "But it's hardly all bad here. There are opportunities that come with a clean social slate."

For half a moment, Adam stuck on that, wondering how much of a future he objectively had. He hoped, of course, for one worth having; he knew, logically, that there was always a chance. Especially with what was happened with Cabeswater in the bathroom.

But he couldn't start losing himself this early in.

"True enough. There's no one with expectations of what you are or should do. You can do whatever you want." He liked that, in truth.

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-04-15 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Almost," Emma said, her tone becoming a little less amused and sultry. Instead she sounded annoyed. "You can't be a teacher here. Not a real one. There aren't any schools. I've had to give my future here a bit of thought. I wasn't here long enough to decide what I needed to do."

She hoped to run into mutants who needed training. Perhaps Adam would be one of them. That hope was the main reason she hadn't read his mind yet.
parrishing: (neutral | i'll tell you what)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-04-22 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
He blinked, studying her curiously for a second; after that second, a frown marred his brow, a tiny line resuming its place there between each of them. "So what are you thinking you're going to do?"

He probably did need a bit of training, to be quite frank. She wasn't entirely wrong. He just wasn't a mutant.

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-04-24 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma had two options. Play it cool and risk losing his interest, or be real and be vulnerable.

She hated to be vulnerable, but it played well with men. "I don't know." She put her head in her hand. "I'm going to train people with abilities like yours, hopefully."

The 'real' part was more what he was interested in, not the 'vulnerable'. He could do without vulnerabilities, himself. They didn't help much.

"...yeah? Like mine?"

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-04-25 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Emma was trying hard to purge herself of all vulnerability. It was a work in progress.

"Yeah." Emma nodded and finished her martini. "You didn't look like you were in control, to be honest. You could be so much more than you are, darling. I have a desire to bring out the best in people.

Wasn't it always? One day, they'd both get what they wanted.

"What are you thinking you're going to be able to do with me?" He asked. He had to. It wasn't like he was opposed to having a teacher, after all; it was just that his was dead. Persephone hadn't been with him nearly long enough, and now she was gone, and he had no idea what he was doing most of the time. He just gave himself up to it all.

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2017-05-04 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma smirked. "Nothing tonight. But once we're settled I'd love to learn a little more about your abilities and what you need help doing in order to control them." She had no idea how to help, but she was certain she could.

He nodded slowly, taking that in and rolling it around his mind like a wine on his tongue. It was a little nervewracking, opening up to people about what he had done to himself and what the results were; the people who were closest to him, they already knew. There was never that moment of discussion. It was like Blue finding out about his father.

"Yeah," Adam finally conceded. "We can talk about it some time."
