Possible Scenarios01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!
02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?
03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out its doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously, that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.
04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.
05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.
06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.
07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!
William "Penny" Adiyodi | The Magicians
He was still getting the hang of traveling, he was no where near mastery, but he at least knew when the fuck he was planning to travel. He'd never done it without making an effort too. So how the fuck did he end up here? He didn't pay attention to the gift box or the room he woke up in. He instantly tried to get home only to end back up in the same fucking place.
"Damn it." He was trying not to be pissed since he didn't know where he was or exactly how to get back. It looked like a city but it didn't feel like anywhere he'd been on Earth. There were to many worlds to tell and he's only seen a fraction of them.
Penny walked around the streets trying to see if he could find someone. Most of them talked about the chosen which sounded like some sort of fucked up cult. It was too loud, he wanted them all to just shut the fuck up. He couldn't believe that he was stuck here so he went searching for something that might quiet the voices in his head; drugs.

A certain someone had made it his business to get acquainted with a few of these dealers. A certain someone who Penny wouldn't be able to read, since he'd been practicing guarding his thoughts for years.
"Until next time," Eliot was saying, as he turned away from today's dealer, slipping the bag into his inner jacket pocket... and coming face-to-face with a face he hadn't seen in months.
"...oh," was all he said at first, while he blinked, caught entirely off guard. "...hi."
no subject
"...hi." He was never a smooth talker, in fact he disliked talking if he could help it. "You going to tell me how you got here or am walking past you to see what these guys deal."
He preferred to be straight to the point.
no subject
When he answered it all came out as if it were a single sentence. Getting straight to the point, indeed.
"Mostly weed, with a side of molly and the occasional coke chaser; did you only just get here?"
no subject
"Yes and I'm going to be needing some of those pills." He meant the ecstasy, weed wasn't really his thing; it didn't last long enough. Pills were easy and when one didn't work you just took another. He's had time to try all sorts of shit. Pain medication worked too, anything that might numb him and quiet those fucking voices.
He didn't think that Eliot has been in this city long. He's just seen him the physical students house.

Assuming the City had 'generously' gifted Penny with the same amount of money that it had Eliot, when he'd arrived.
"Come on," he said, nodding back the way Penny had come, "let's get somewhere we won't freeze to death while we're tripping balls."
He brushed past Penny, with a clear destination in mind.

His head twitched as they walked and he grunted in pain as the patch in the back of his neck burned. He wasn't about to take it off and, in a really fucked up way, it was nice to be reminded that it was there.
"Where are we going?" He was quick to step up to Eliot's side, his hand's being shoved grumpily into his pockets.
This day was just a whole lot of suck so far so he wasn't looking to play games.

She was wearing a coat she'd lifted from a mugger over her stripper uniform, but her bare legs and platform heels still made her conspicuous. She marched over, remarkably graceless in her heels. "You! New guy!"
no subject
Really Penny hated most people and it showed when he turned towards Emma. He eyed her shoes and her legs before making eye contact.
"Yeah, I'm not paying." She looked like a hooker, even with the large jacket.

"It's never been a problem before. Did you have a point to coming over?" He didn't like talking about the fact that he was a telepath and he didn't like the idea other people rooting around in his head. He already had to deal with the god damn moth fucker screaming at him. If it wasn't for the bleeding patch on the back of his neck he'd go crazy. It muted the voices but the people around him continued to bug him. It wasn't a permanent solution and it hurt like hell.

He wasn't going to stop being abrasive.

After a minute he relented. "Fine, drugs but how can you teach me?" The patch on the back of his neck burned at the thought. He had walls around his own thoughts but he couldn't shut out others, not completely, and it was worse with the the moth fucker who was screaming inside his head.

She never planned sets. She would play whatever struck her in the moment, anything from the Beatles to Sondheim.
Today, as it happened, she was in a Jefferson Starship sort of mood:
Say you don't know me, or recognize my face
Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place
Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night
Where the mood had come from was anyone's guess, but Diana's voice was clear and bright and pretty, like birdsong in the middle of the night. And just maybe she'd amped up the Awe a little bit. Passers-by were strangely compelled to stop and listen to her, to drop a couple bucks in the guitar case on their way. Maybe that was cheating a little, but it was for a good cause. And it wasn't like she lacked the talent or charisma.
One particular face caught her attention, though, as she wrapped up the song. Mostly because she didn't recognize him. Also because he was good looking. She wondered if he was a new arrival. He had the look of being lost to him.
no subject
He didn't pause as he passed by kept his pace even. He felt the subtle suggestion and looked over to her with a raised eyebrow. "Mean trick." Plus he didn't really care for the song.
His tone was gruff and he looked like he had no intention of stopping to listen to more of her music. He wasn't interested.
no subject
Diana set her palm over the strings, silencing the last note of her song. With nothing left to listen to, her little audience started to dissipate. Which was fine. She wasn't looking for groupies.
But she was more than a little curious about that little comment about 'mean trick' or whatever.
"Hey," she said, standing up, calling after the stranger. "Hey, are you new to the City?"
no subject
He knew that she was calling for him but he had no intention of hanging around for long.
"What of it?"
no subject
"You look new is all," she said, giving him a smile that made her eyes gleam like the lights of a pinball machine. No supernatural augmentation. It was one hundred percent Diana. "There isn't exactly a welcoming committee. Unless you count the stupid gift basket thingy."
Which she didn't.
"Are you lost? I can show you where the shelter is, if you want a place to stay."
no subject
"I can find my way." Mostly he cheated but he knew he'd just have to try and Travel somewhere outside the city to end up in that god damn room again. He was really sick of it at this point and he didn't want to go back there.
"I don't need any help."
What the hell was it with people here and trying to help?
no subject
"Oh," Diana said, slowing her gait a little bit. It wasn't like she could just tackle the guy and force him to let her help or anything. People tended to respond badly to that kind of thing.
She couldn't blame them. She didn't exactly enjoy being tackled herself.
"Well, in case you change your mind, you should know that the language barrier exists outside of the Tower district."
no subject
Being here didn't change much about his life, only where he was and the fact that he couldn't leave. Which also sucked.
He signed and looked at her. "What language do most people speak here?" It was actually important to know. He hasn't had trouble hearing people but he doesn't know where the districts are so he doesn't know if its some kind of fluke.
