Possible Scenarios
01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!

02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out its doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously, that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.

04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.

05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.

06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.

07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

Penny just stared at her. "You have to be fucking kidding me." Of all the people from their rag-tag little team, Eliot wasn't the worst. There really was no way of knowing if it was the same Eliot but how many Eliot's have drugs and like guys? There were to many coincidences.

Fuck it.

"What does Eliot look like?" He wasn't into explaining how he knew that just that he wanted to know what she knew quickly. "Tall? Curly dark hair and waves his arms around like a prissy?"
diana_abel: (Startled)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-13 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
He looks like Lancelot. Wait, what?

"Wait, what?"

After over two hundred years of supernatural insanity, Diana didn't always startle easily, but she had to admit, he'd definitely thrown her for a loop. She was accustomed to a very different kind of telepathy, the kind that involved putting thoughts into her head, not taking them out. And given the way he smelled, he definitely wasn't a Cainite.

She frowned a little bit, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. A nervous gesture. "I don't know about prissy...but he's tall and has curly dark hair. You kinda sound like you've already met him?"
hearingvoices: (Hurt.)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-13 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. It figures he'd be here."

He wasn't about to call them friends. Penny went through great lengths to not consider people at school friends. More so since they returned from the north pole.

"If it's the guy I'm thinking then I know him."

That was the most that Penny would give her about it. He didn't know what Eliot had said and he didn't really want to give her that much information about himself. More so after responding to what she was thinking.

He did however feel the need to clear one thing up. "And I'm not fucking hurt. I have this stabbing into the back of my neck." He moved his head slightly, showing the bandaged which was rimmed with blood.
diana_abel: (Sad)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-13 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know him? Like...you know-know him? Like, from home?"

The stab of jealousy was immediate.

Lucky guy. I wish I had some of my friends from home here. All I'm stuck with is the guy who fucked and then fucked over my sister. I'd take anyone in the Order, though. Even Pixie. God, I miss them so much. Why am I so lonely?

She pushed the thoughts aside, turning to look at the bandage on his neck. Immediately, she winced.

Thank God I'm not hungry.

"That looks really painful. I could take you to Eliot's by way of a clinic, if you wanted..."

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-13 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I know him and no we aren't friends."

Penny shook his head though now that she knows about the patch she might notice that the motion was slow.

"I put it there." Well, the doctor at the school did but it was with Penny's permission. It wasn't a permanent solution, he knew that but he didn't want to take it off. He didn't want to hear the screaming anymore.
diana_abel: (Scared)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-13 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Who doesn't like Eliot? Eliot's like pudding. Everyone loves pudding. Oh, unless he's an ex or something. I could see that being awkward. Better not get into it. It might bring up some bad feelings.

"Oh."

Why?

"Would you...would you like some whiskey or something?" She nodded in the direction of the fire station, just up the street. "I know where Jack hides the good stuff. And honestly, you look like you could use a belt."
hearingvoices: (Watchin gyou)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Does he look gay? For some reason the idea really pisses him off. Drinking, however, that sounds like a fucking fantastic idea.

"Lead the way." He gestured with his hand before shoving them back into his pocket.
diana_abel: (Uncomfortable)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-13 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Diana gave one more quick glance, before she turned around and started heading in the direction of the fire station. Her guitar case thumped against the small of her back, the coins jangling.

I wonder if he has any money. I should give him my take. Or would that also be emasculating? But where would you keep money in that outfit?

It continued on, Diana wrestling with her conscience over to best help the stranger.

Whether or not she believed she was the Cainite messiah--and she didn't--she certainly fit the role well.

She opened the door of the station, gesturing him inside. "This is the City fire station, but it's usually pretty quiet. My friend is the fire chief. His name is Jack."

And he's the father I never had.

"He's a great guy. He'd let you stay here, if you wanted to crash."
hearingvoices: (Lets go)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-13 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Penny followed behind her wishing that she'd stop thinking for two seconds. It was starting to give him a headache. He pinched his nose a few times but it didn't really do anything to relieve the pressure and he soon gave up, keeping in step beside her.

"Jack the firefighter?" Penny rose an eyebrow at her before stepping inside in the building. Yup, it was a firehouse.

"So why are you so persistent with helping me?" He'd listened to her a million and one ways to figure out how to help him. He didn't really consider some of her thoughts emasculating, mostly because that really wasn't something he worried about. He knew who he was and while there were parts of him and his abilities he hated, it was still part of him. No use running from what was in front of you.
diana_abel: (Sly)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-13 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
She turned to look at him. "It's the right thing to do."

And there weren't thoughts to accompany what she said so much as...feelings. Diana was a person utterly consumed with doing the right thing. For over two hundred years she'd obsessed about it, to the point where it was an urge inseparable from the rest of her personality. It was the driving force behind everything she did, ultimately. Even if competing instincts, such as the desire for sex or affection or blood, sometimes got in the way.

With that, she led him up the stairs to the little kitchen and office space above the fire trucks. It had the look of a used, worn-out dorm lounge. It was where she and her family basically existed for one another, in the in-between times when none of them were running around like the maniacs they were.

"Jack's great," she said, pushing open the door to his office. "We met years ago when he pulled me out of a burning building, cliched as that sounds."

God was he lucky I didn't bite him that night.
hearingvoices: (I'm trying.)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-13 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Penny followed her, his eyes watching her movements carefully. He's getting the impression that she was more than she seemed and he didn't really want to let his guard down, as nice and true as her intentions might be.

"I'll keep that in mind if I meet him." He was prickly by nature and really had no interest in trying to get along with people. People can easily come and go.

"I'm not a good person." He leaned against the counter as he spoke, crossing his arms over his chest. "I won't do something just because it's right." Which was his way of saying that her worry and kindness was horribly misplaced. He didn't need it and he didn't want it. Kindness was just another word for pity or another way to make people feel better about himself. He didn't think it was all that great.
diana_abel: (Cheerful)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-13 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
She glanced at him as she walked around Jack's desk, opening the lower righthand drawer. "In my experience, genuinely awful people don't say things like that," she said. "And believe me, I've had experience."

Abe went around murdering, just because there was no reason not to...

Diana would forever regret her entire association with Abe. Yet, she'd still saved his life, in the end. Even if she'd left him in the gutter where he belonged.

From Jack's secret stash, she pulled out a large bottle, half-full of whiskey. "Here we go," she said pleasantly, holding it out to him.
hearingvoices: (Watchin gyou)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-14 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure." He didn't sound convinced.

He knew someone who killed people for stupid reasons. There were always people like that and while he wasn't that fucking crazy, he cared more about protecting himself than anyone else. He's given up caring about people or at least that's what he tells himself.

"You got glasses or are we going to be depressing about drinking and pass the bottle around."
diana_abel: (Flirty)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-15 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, it's all yours," she said, holding her hands up, palms out. "I'll buy Jack a new one. He'll never know it was gone."

He hasn't been so depressed lately. He probably hasn't even checked that drawer in a while.

Thank God for Martha.

She perched herself on the corner of the desk, crossing one leg over the other. It was a habit, she couldn't help it if she flashed a little leg. "My name is Diana," she said. "Diana Abel. As in 'Caine and dot, dot, dot...' I'm from Los Angeles." Although she'd been in Phoenix (or near Phoenix) when she got kidnapped by the City. "It was 2009 when I left."
hearingvoices: (Shut up.)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-15 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Penny took the bottle and quickly loosened the top to take along swing. The burn down his throat was comforting as he anticipated the numbing that was sure to follow. He took about two long swings before he looked over at her.

His eyes glanced down her leg, moving over the curve of her hips before he met her gaze.

"Penny." It wasn't his real name but he liked it better. No one needed to know that his name was William. "So, Diana, what do you do for fun around here?" Since he was apparently stuck here it didn't hurt to ask.

Penny? Interesting. I wonder where that came from. Maybe he's lucky. Oh, God, Diana, don't say that. It would sound so cheesy.

She shrugged. "There are a lot of things you can do, just kinda depends on what you're into, I guess." Diana made a vague gesture into the ether. "There are clubs and bars and brothels and karaoke. The area where Eliot lives has some nice coffee houses. I work at the local library, if you like that kind of thing."

Her mind flashed, momentarily, to a steam memory in the library when Joseph ripped the laces of her corset, so eager and so hot for her. It sent a little shiver of delight through her.

Yes. Libraries turned Diana on. Big time.

"I have a friend who likes to go flying on a broom. No joke."

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-15 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Penny watched her, his eyebrow arching curiously. That was something interesting that he probably didn't need to know. She hadn't caught on that he could read her thoughts so maybe it was best if he didn't tell her.

He disliked the complications that came with reading peoples thoughts. He couldn't control it and it was more annoying than anything else. The alcohol helped some, the patch helped some but nothing made it completely quiet in his head.

"Are they a wizard?" His tone was dry and a little sarcastic. After all the shit with Fillory he'd believe anything no. "And my question was what do you do for fun around here. Not what is there to do."
diana_abel: (Sly)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-16 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Her lips parted, about to admit that yes, 'wizard' was Draco's preferred term. But he caught her a little off guard. The whole 'what do you do for fun?' thing was usually the precursor to flirting, at least in her experience. But he didn't seem all that interested in her.

If anything, he thinks I'm probably a waste of his time. I guess I am. Whiskey isn't exactly helping.

She shrugged. "I like going out dancing," she said. "Not the rave type, exactly. But I like a good beat and a good song. Sometimes Eliot and I do karaoke."

Wait. Back up, Diana.

"How is it that you know him, exactly?"
hearingvoices: (I'm trying.)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-16 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Penny watched her with a stoic expression. It's just how he was, he didn't let on what was going on inside of his head.

He didn't know how to dance and he didn't sing.

He took another sip of the whiskey allowing silence to fill the space between them. He was thinking and eventually he came to a decision; for better or for worse. "Brakebills College Grad program."
diana_abel: (Startled)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-16 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
At once, her jewel-bright eyes lit up with recognition. "Oh!" she said, feeling a surprising rush of relief. "So you're a magician?"

It explained so much. Including why he would have anything to do with Eliot, especially after referring to him as 'sissy.'

Wait, is that the right word? Is it wizard? No. Wizard is Draco's world. I'm pretty sure it's magician. Well, he'll probably correct me if I'm wrong. He probably gets kicks out of man-splaining.

Aloud, she continued. "Eliot's told me all about that school of yours. It sounds super intense."
hearingvoices: (You're serious)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-16 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"It can be."

He took another sip of from the bottle. Yes the school was intense but most of the people there were able to put up mental barriers. It made it a little more bearable then walking around on the streets.

"What all has he told you?" Penny didn't really like talking about himself and he had no idea what shit Eliot has been spouting.
diana_abel: (Default)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-16 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Diana shrugged. "All sorts of stuff. He told me about his friend Margo. And that the kids there have specialties..."

...that an angry murder-moth monster is after him...

"...and about some really crazy spells he's tried." She smiled. "I'm not a magician, but in the City, we kinda have this...hiatus. On most kinds of secrecy and stuff. I mean, not to get cliched, but it's totes a melting pot here. Magicians and wizards and aliens and vampires and all kinds of other strange creatures. It takes some getting used to, but I think life is sometimes easier without secrets."

It means you can have real friends. It means you don't have to lie to survive.

Diana was a horrible liar to begin with. And even if she'd been good at it, she wouldn't have wanted to. Lying felt...well, dishonest. You couldn't build any real kind of relationship on lies. Not and have it mean something.
hearingvoices: (Um what?)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-16 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Penny didn't really want to think about the moth monster. That bastard was one of the voices inside his head. It'd run clearly since he was a kid and it was a voice he thought was his friend. He'd be wrong about jade too.

"Yeah, all that shit sounds about right." He didn't like having friends. It didn't matter that they were all trapped here or fucked up in some way. Those he trusted and got close to always turned away from him. He'll work with others but otherwise he'd rather leave a distance between him and everyone else.

Penny took another swing from the bottle before tapping the bandage at the base of his neck. "This disconnects some of my magic. It isn't permanent." Since it was a bunch of needles digging into his neck. "If you know anyone that can do something similar that'd be helpful." He didn't really want to mention what the patch did. He didn't want to think about the moth monster. Yes it wanted to kill all of them but he wanted to make Penny kill himself. So that there weren't any travelers left. If Eliot wanted to get away, he probably could. Penny didn't think he'd ever be safe as long as that monster was out there he'd want Penny dead.
diana_abel: (Uncomfortable)

[personal profile] diana_abel 2017-01-16 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
She frowned thoughtfully, looking at the patch and trying hard to ignore the intoxicating scent of blood.

If I knew anything that could cut off power, I would have used it on myself years ago...

"Ouija magic isn't really may area of expertise," she said out loud. "But my friend Draco might be able to help you. He went to a sorcery school too. In the UK, I guess. Or, if you're looking for a more science-y solution, my friend the Doctor works here in the fire house."

Diana gave him an apologetic shrug. "I wish I could offer more than that. But I'm a well-known idiot. Just ask anyone, they'll tell you. Nothing but fluff between my ears." It was what she'd been told her whole life. So often that she really believed it was true.
hearingvoices: (Watchin gyou)

[personal profile] hearingvoices 2017-01-16 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn’t exactly cutting of power but he wasn’t going to explain that to her because then he’d have to explain the fact that someone was screaming bloody murder inside his head to get him to kill himself. It wasn’t a happy conversation.

Penny took another swig of the bottle as the numb feeling began to spread to his limbs. It wasn’t the same as drugs but it was slowly doing the trick and taking the edge off. It didn’t block out thoughts like other drugs did but it did make them easier to ignore.

"You should give yourself more credit." It was annoying when people were down on themselves for no good reason. She might not be a genius but he didn’t think she was an idiot. People were good at different shit, that’s all there was too it.
