Possible Scenarios
01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!

02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filing the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out it's doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.

04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.

05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.

06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With it's open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.

07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

Adam Parrish | the Raven Cycle | 01

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-06-13 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
The sudden distance from Cabeswater was distressing. He could already feel the strength of their connection waning, and given that he was already taken off-guard by how long it had taken to come to his rescue against the attack of whatever the hell that was, he wasn't sure that was a good thing. He wanted to withdraw and retreat back into that safe space of the forest, but the forest wasn't here. He knew it wasn't.

In fact, he knew, almost immediately, that wherever he was, it was a far cry from Henrietta. He had no idea where or what it was, but it felt not unlike the shadow that tried to kill him.

Adam blinked slowly, testing out his control of his own eyes, and began to look around, turning a slow circle from where he stood to take it all in.

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-06-15 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
There was a young man looking as lost and confused as she felt. Emma approached cautiously, because he was thinking some weird things and she didn't know what to make of any of this yet. "Are you alright?"
parrishing: (neutral | just tired)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-06-19 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," he murmured in response, neither aware that she could read his mind nor that she was in the same boat as him. For all he knew, she was just some girl walking by, and people showing up looking probably a little stunned was weird. "Yeah, I'm all right."

He carefully patted himself a little, glancing down to make sure that he really was okay and that he hadn't sustained any secret injuries. Nothing, though. That was good. Just whatever the hell had happened in the bathroom.

Finally, Adam glanced over at her, staring for a second to make sure his eyes were adjusting right. "You live here?"

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-06-21 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma frowned at his question, looking around them. A quick check confirmed the information she'd gotten earlier, unfortunately. "We both do, now. I'm Emma Frost." She held out her hand to shake his.

There was a moment of hesitation on Adam's part, as he all but froze; the words needed a moment to sink in, and he was still for that time. During it, he thought he felt his fingers twitch in a most uncomfortable way. He tried not to think about it.

It resulted in his hand being clenched into a tight fist as he lifted it up to shake her hand in return. He took half a second to realise, to unfurl his fingers, and to clasp her hand for a neat shake. "Adam Parrish. Nice to meet you, even if the circumstances leave something to be desired. How do you know we live here now?"

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-07-03 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
His strange movements definitely got her attention. Something was wrong with him. Probably it was just their situation, but she made a mental note to be wary. "Because everyone around us is thinking it. They know we're not from here, that we were brought here. I guess our sudden arrival tipped them off." She knew it was dangerous to explain her powers back home, but the expectation the people around her had was that 'chosen' or whatever would have powers. Perhaps the young man did as well.
parrishing: (neutral | what's that doing there)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-07 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Something was definitely wrong with him. He wasn't all that fond of it either; it struck him as one of those things that he should be talking to Gansey about, but Gansey wasn't there. It was just him. Him and her, apparently. And maybe some other people, but no one he was keen on talking to about this.

Especially since he had no idea what it was.

"Oh," he replied thoughtfully, going silent for another second to ruminate on that. That and her wording: it had been said in such a specific way... "How do you know what they're thinking?"

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-07-09 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Emma took a deep breath. Here it came. The moment of rejection, the tinge of fear and disgust. She braced herself for the reaction she always got when she said, "I can read minds."
parrishing: (neutral | asleep)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-11 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
The moment of...

Adam nodding slowly and thoughtfully, regarding her for a moment. "I wouldn't want to know what everyone thought of me every minute of every day. Can you turn it off?"

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-07-11 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma blinked. She was truly taken aback by his easy acceptance. So much so that she took a single step backward. "Um, no. Not really. I can block out the noise to a certain degree. It's usually all a bunch of noise, though. I have to focus to pick out things."
parrishing: (neutral | a determined boy)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-11 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
He'd seen some weird shit. Namely, the weird shit that was going on with his hands and his eyes. It meant that everything else paled in comparison, and the idea that there was a girl out there who could read someone's mind really didn't shock him as much as it probably should have.

"Sounds like you've probably got a headache a lot of the time."

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-07-11 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Admitting he was right, and that wasn't even the worst of it was too difficult for Emma. So instead she shrugged, making an open motion with her hands. "I think for the moment we're better off focusing on shelter and food. Since we don't have any money, this is going to be a little difficult."
parrishing: (neutral | a little spacey)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-11 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Briefly, Adam rubbed his eye, then stuffed his hands into his pockets. A moment later, he withdrew one, holding some kind of key and keycard.

"I've got a key to some place called...Magnolia Tower," he replied, easily shifting with the change of topic, inspecting the keys with clear interest. "I didn't have that when I showed up. Maybe they're not totally setting us up to fail here."

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-07-11 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma's head tilted a little and she patted the pocket of her jean jacket. Lo and behold, there was a key and keycard to match his. "Huh." She turned the card over, inspecting it thoroughly. "Alright. There's an address on this. Assuming the streets are gridded, which I suppose we should for the moment, we should be able to find our way."

She offered him a curious look. "While we walk you can tell me what's wrong with you. I shared my secret, fair is fair."
parrishing: (neutral | pleading)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-15 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Unless you can fly or something. Or you know someone who can," he mused thoughtfully, tapping his thumb against the keycard a couple times. "I can't, though."

But never mind that. He nodded a little, towards the centre of the City, that large, jutting Tower. "This way?"

Adam had already started to twist around to head that way when she made her request; his eyes immediately snapped to her, and for a moment, he looked a little caught off-guard.

"What's wrong with me?"

[personal profile] wellbredbitch 2016-07-20 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"You. . ." she huffed. How could she explain it. "You're not moving right. Like you're not used to your arms or something. Beside, everyone here is damaged, so you must be as well." She had no doubt that this city would put her to the test. Already she was tired from shielding against the thoughts of the inhabitants and some other nebulous. . . thing that made her feel extra emotional. It was strange and worrisome.
parrishing: (neutral | i'll think about it)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-21 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"And here I thought I was better at hiding it than that," he remarked drily, mouth quirking upwards briefly. It was almost in amusement. It also wasn't obvious which part he was referring to: the part about not being used to his arms, or the damaged part.

It wasn't like either was precisely wrong.

"Are you always this forward?"

Re: Adam Parrish | the Raven Cycle | 01

[personal profile] professorhotpants 2016-06-21 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Augustine was similarly lost. He posted the pockets of his lab coat, distressed to find he had no cigarettes on him. If he was going to be lost he thought he should at least be able to smoke.

Still, all hope was not lost. Augustine spotted Adam and went toward the young man. "Excuse me, but where are we?"
parrishing: (neutral | staring you down)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-06-25 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Adam was in the process of breathing deeply in the hope that he could ease himself into nonchalance. The whole thing had him feeling like he was standing on an angle, like the whole world was at an angle. He didn't doubt that he could deal with it, but he needed the phantom feeling of his body being invaded to go away first.

After a moment, he turned his attention to the other man, his shoulders tense and something in his expression uncertain. "I've only heard a little. Something about a city of sin. It's got to be a nickname."

[personal profile] professorhotpants 2016-07-26 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, so you just arrived as well," Augustine says, looking around in confusion. This is not the place he'd expected to be when he woke up a few minutes ago.

He looked at Adam, noticing the younger man's unease. "Not to worry. Like you said, it must be a nickname. I'm Professor Augustine Sycamore, what's your name?"
parrishing: (neutral | can't do it)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-26 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," he confirmed, staring out at the city all around them like it might suddenly turn on them. Maybe it was all a hallucination, maybe it'd all go up in smoke at any moment.

It was nice that the unease was put off to being displaced, though; that, weirdly, made it easier on him. "Adam Parrish," he replied carefully, his words slightly clipped to remove as much of his Southern accent as possible. "What're you a professor of?"

[personal profile] professorhotpants 2016-07-26 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Augustine had what sounded like a French accent, though he spoke slowly so he could be understood by someone who wasn't from Kalos. "Pokemon biology. Mega Evolution, to be specific."

Which would have been quite good to know in his universe. It made sense there. Elsewhere. . . not so much. But he didn't know that yet.
parrishing: (neutral | sideways)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-07-26 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Poke-what?" Adam half-echoed, frowning intently. Biology, he understood. Evolution, he understood. It was just the words tacked onto them for alleged clarification that weren't making any sense.

[personal profile] professorhotpants 2016-07-26 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pardon?" Augustine asked, thinking he'd misheard Adam. How could he not know what Pokemon are?
parrishing: (neutral | leaning down)

[personal profile] parrishing 2016-08-15 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"What's a Pokemon?" He asked, aiming for more clarity in that. He thought it was a pretty obvious question. Maybe not.
