Possible Scenarios01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!
02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filing the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?
03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out it's doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.
04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.
05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.
06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With it's open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.
07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

It wasn't like either was precisely wrong.
"Are you always this forward?"

This was a much better idea than walking. Even if it did make her head hurt.
no subject
And so, he crawled into the cab behind her, frowning a little at the free ride they were apparently getting. But he didn't say anything.
Instead, he dropped his voice a little to reply: "I've got some stuff going on right now. It's complicated."
no subject
"The city is split up into sections based on the sin we identify with or possess the most. You and I are lucky enough to be in the center, devoted to pride."
no subject
"You overhear that from the cab driver, or someone we've passed?" Adam asked mildly, eyebrows arching a little. It didn't really surprise him that pride was his apparent sin. That wasn't inaccurate. He was proud to a fault; just ask Gansey.

She turned her attention to the window, her chin in her hand. "This place is like home in a lot of ways. Not necessarily the sin element, but the people. . . we'll never be accepted. We'll always be outsiders."
Her voice was soft, but not for the cab driver's benefit. She liked being special, but she wasn't entirely sold on being 'other' just yet.
no subject
"People who're dragged in here? So the whole place isn't made up of us?" That was interesting. He flicked a glance to the cab driver. "That means most people were actually born here, doesn't it? This is the only place they've known."
no subject
Probably this free cab ride wasn't going to help with that, but Emma was used to being despised. It came with the territory.
no subject
'Chosen'. Sure. Whatever they said.
"I wonder why," he replied drily. "So how's that work? Anyone know why we're here?"
no subject
Emma concentrated. It was getting harder to focus. A headache was building up behind her eyes. The noise became louder, the passing voices more insistent.
She shook her head, sighing softly. "Maybe someone knows, but I'm not getting it."
She gave him a shrug, hoping she didn't look as distracted as she felt.
The cab stopped, but Emma didn't move to get out. She was having too much trouble boxing out the now coherent voices around them.
no subject
He snapped his eyes back to her, his left eye feeling a little askew and blurry for a second. He ignored it.
"You all right?"
no subject
It took Emma a moment to acknowledge he'd said something. She shook her head, then rubbed her temples. "I'm bordering on alright. Hopefully it's quieter inside."
She looked out the window as well, hearing too clearly what they all thought of the kids in the car. The cab driver was beginning to understand what he'd done and his anger was mounting. Emma took a deep breath and opened the door on her side, bolting for magnolia tower and its key card only lock. If Adam was smart he'd do the same until the cabby left.
no subject
Seeing her move, he caught on, moving to effortlessly remove himself from the vehicle as well, nudging the door shut before following after her. Not bolting, necessarily, but definitely taking it at a clip. As he did so, a grin started to tug at his lips, as adrenaline caught up with him. It was terrible, running away from a cab driver without paying like this, but it wasn't like they had anything. He'd be pissed anyway.
When they got to the foyer, he kept running, hitting the elevator without even knowing which floor he was going to. It didn't matter; they were inside. And it was at that point, back pressed against the wall of the lift, that Adam loosed a proper laugh, happy and a little giddy.

She reached out, experimentally touching Adam's hand. "Be my friend. It's harder to go it alone." She knew that to be a fact. She'd never had many friends, maybe she'd be able to change that here.
no subject
At the touch, he only startled a little, eyes snapping to her curiously. In truth, he knew it as well as she did - friends weren't something he had many of - and he knew that a place named the City of Sin was probably to be traversed carefully. There was no touch of Cabeswater around here, just the unfamiliar taint of whatever was attacking it.
"Okay," he agreed after a second, shifting to nudge his hand against hers in return. Then he offered a non-sequitur to go with it, an offer of what was so complicated about his life right that moment. "I think something's trying to take over my eye."
Just in case she wanted to get away from him now, before it happened.
no subject
She didn't know how, but if Adam was her friend she owed it to him to try, as long as it didn't require too much of her.
no subject
"I'm seeing the shadows too, but I kind of figured those weren't related. They only happened when I got here," Adam pointed out, leaning against the wall of the elevator thoughtfully. Finally, he stole a glance towards his keycard and the right floor, then leaned forward and jabbed the right button.
"This is different. Unless eyes are supposed to move independently of their owners. I don't know if you can help, though. I don't know what it is."

no subject
What if they were, though?
Surely not.
"I thought I took care of it."
no subject
He was much weirder than her, she decided. At least telepathy had some benefits.
no subject
"The spiritual forest I made a ritualistic deal with a few months ago told me by whispering in my deaf ear that water would work to drive it back."
no subject
Obviously the one not facing her, but she had her eyes closed to regain her composure.
no subject
"Left," he answered. It wasn't something he often admitted, but neither was most of this. It was a very weird day. Gansey was probably wondering where he was.
no subject
It made it easier to understand where he was coming from. The elevator dinged and Emma stepped off, looking at the pair of door that faced them. "Is this your floor?"
no subject
But hey, at least he'd made a friend on his first day. He glanced back down to the keycard, then nodded a little. "Yeah, it is. So I guess I'll see you later, huh?"
