Possible Scenarios
01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!

02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out its doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously, that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.

04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.

05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.

06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.

07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

Thom | OC

(1: arrival)
Thom didn't claim to know Galway like the back of his hand but he knew that giant looming tower was new. And he was alone. He'd seen the other lads step through the portal.

So far, he'd been lucky with portals. He'd never ended up in the wrong place, halfway around the world, or some fae dungeon. But wherever he was now, he didn't recognize it, and that didn't bode well.

"How's the craic? Weird question, but can you give me the name of this city?" Luckily, he'd been heading into Galway to pub crawl and club anyway, so he looked completely human, the Irish accent is more difficult to miss.

(7: around the city aka at the bar - feel free to reply with texts!!)
Naturally, Thom was trying to stay level headed and figure out what he needed to do to help himself, and everyone knew the best place to think was at the pub over a pint. Everyone. He was sat at the bar itself, working on a red ale, as he toyed with one of the free packs of cheap matches the bar gave out just to keep his other hand occupied. All the while he was staring down at the phone he'd found in his pocket. Yes, found. He'd had his own phone on him when he'd stepped through the portal. This was not it.

It took him half a glass before he decided to fiddle with his only real lead, this phone. Naturally, he went straight for the pictures. Nada. After that, however, he went to the contacts. A list of names and numbers. Alright, mass text it was.

(i found this phone. you friends with the lad it belongs to?)

Little does he know, he's on The City's network. His name will pop up for everyone as simply 'Thom'.

I've never met the guy it belongs to, but from what I've gathered, it's probably yours if you found it on your person.

Adam had learned a few things earlier that day, after all, and most of them pointed to things being set up for them in advance. It was kind of creepy, actually. He supposed he couldn't complain that much, but it was weird. He wasn't sure what to make of any of it.

(i have my own. well. i HAD my own. i found it in my pocket. this key with the address

also mine?
)

He doesn't get it. Strange city, strange phone, weird key with a mystery room/apartment/house/storage facility/death trap dungeon on the other side. And no other hints?
parrishing: (neutral | hopeful)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-01-11 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing these guys want us to be able to communicate right away. And yeah, I'm pretty sure the key's yours too.

It's kind of ominous, isn't it? We don't even know who's doing this.
volucrine: (21)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-01-12 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
i was about to ask who 'these guys' were... that answers that

i wonder if anyone has tried to leave. people are bound to have tried.

It was all so bizarre. Surely, people had tried to leave. And that had him wondering, were all these people in the bar like him? Imported? Kidnapped? Rerouted to the city. He wasn't really sure what to call it yet.
parrishing: (neutral | caught you)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-01-12 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
So far as I've heard, yeah. No luck, I guess.

From what Adam had been told, there were only a small handful of them who had been imported, but they were always rotating in and out. It was weird, honestly.

Some people sound like they're actually settling in, actually.

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-01-13 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
it sort of makes sense. what else is there to do?we're stuck here and no one seems to know for how long. doing nothing would be really, REALLY boring.

He had so many questions and the horrible feeling that no one could give him the answer. Maybe it was time to find the address attached to this key and just hope he woke up somewhere else, ideally, back at home. Having a few more glasses of ale sounded like it might help too, though it could result in him being unable to find his house. No. He'd better go, set up a home base, maybe get to know the city a bit before getting hammered and trusting himself to find his way home.
parrishing: (neutral | can't do it)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-01-20 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. The longer you're stuck here, the more likely you are to give in. Probably, at least. I'm sure there are plenty who are just made more irate by the whole thing.

At the very least, they were in a very similar boat. That kind of worked for him, actually. Adam liked having people on the same level as him, though it was rarely necessary; it was just helpful. Two heads worked better than one, after all.

Hey - where are you right now?
volucrine: (08)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-01-23 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
how do we know we're stuck here on purpose? maybe this place is some kind of magical magnet type thing? no fault of its own. but like the people who run the place got the rooms ready because they know it'll happen. if that's the case, then people would be wrong to be mad.

uh, i found a bar. it's called Lucky's. i haven't gone to find the room this key belongs to yet.
parrishing: (neutral | it's almost disbelief)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-01-23 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Maybe it is all an accident, but most people I've talked to made it sound like it wasn't. From what I've heard, it sounds like they're holding a grudge against this place and blame it for...well, a lot, actually.

Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised and the room will be nice. Mine was.
volucrine: (06)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-01-27 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
maybe they're right?? or know something we don't. they might have a reason.

you think so? i'm not really used to big city's like this
[He'd written and then deleted a few things there, not sure how best to word things without it seeming bizarre. There really wasn't a 'normal' way to convey that he slept in a large nest outside of a fae city. He'd been to a few apartments, but he wasn't really sure what the parameters for 'nice' were. All of them seemed very closed in.]
parrishing: (happy | fond of this)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-02-02 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
They might. I'm withholding judgement until I see it for myself, though.

I'm not either. It can't be that bad, though. I'm just going to find a map.

[ though...really, in the grand scheme of things, Adam is definitely more used to big cities than Thom is, if he's used to a nest. ]
volucrine: (08)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-02-04 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
a sound plan.

so far, the only thing it's really guilty of is existing. can you fault a city for that?

[The key and phone thing was strange, very strange, but not necessarily bad. If anything, it was kind of thoughtful - whoever had arranged for those. It maybe would have been nicer if they were given an explanation upon arrival, but at the moment he'd take what he could get.]
parrishing: (neutral | drinking is cool)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-02-04 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Not as such. Kind of hard to blame anyone for just existing.

[ but ouch, does the concept ever hit home hard. He's not fond of it, so he's glad that this is only a text message. Better than the alternative; it'd be harder to hide the mild flinch.

[ but he'd have to agree: an explanation would have been great, upon arrival. They'll make do, though. ]

Hey - mind if I join you?
volucrine: (20)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-02-05 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
course not! i'm at the bar. i mean. i'm AT a bar, obviously, but i'm sat at the bar. you can't miss me. of the two people sat at the bar, i'm the one who isn't an older woman practically falling asleep while attempting to smoke.

[He was pretty sure she'd actually managed to nod off, sat up, and holding a smoldering cigarette. Skill.]
parrishing: (happy | fond of this)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-02-09 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll definitely keep my eye out for the person who isn't an older woman falling asleep while smoking. In the meantime, you should maybe make sure she doesn't burn the whole bar down, huh?

[ meanwhile, Adam is just going to...hurry his way down there, because it's kind of cold out, and he's not sure what other hope he has here. ]
volucrine: (26)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-02-12 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[As promised, Thom is in a small, slightly grungy bar just on the outskirts of the Shantytown docks. "Lucky's" looked like it hadn't really been living up to its name. Also as promised, Thom was the only other person sat at the bar aside from an old woman who was now definitely snoozing, burned out cigarette still between her fingers, now just a column of balancing ash.

Thom was busy poking around on his new phone, trying to pull what information he could out of it, while slowly working on a dark stout.]
parrishing: (neutral | got a straw)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-02-13 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ the place is less than ideal, but Adam can deal with it. It reminds him of home, though not in a good way; it reminds him too much of his dad.

[ he gives the woman at the bar a cursory once-over before carefully picking his way over to the other guy, presumably the one he's been chatting with. He circles around to Thom's left side, stealing the stool next to him. ]

Hey. I'm the uh- The guy you were texting. Adam.
volucrine: (57)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-02-15 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Thom seemed to be firmly lost in his own thoughts and distracted by the phone, oblivious until Adam spoke up. His head immediately popped up, a beaming smile immediately in place.]

Hey. You found it. I started thinking about it after I texted you, I'm not sure the sign is all lit outside.

[He shifts on his stool to offer his hand out to Adam.] Thom.
parrishing: (neutral | sideways)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-02-23 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ obviously not leaping in immediately had been the right choice. Adam smiles back, albeit faintly: just a quirk of his lips, but it touches his eyes, and that's what matters. ]

It's not. But I didn't get this far without being able to fill in the blanks.

[ he shifts just enough to accept that hand, shaking firmly, but not too firmly. His Southern accent is out in full force now: ] Pleasure to meet you, Thom. How is it so far? Here, I mean.
volucrine: (08)

[personal profile] volucrine 2017-03-19 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Here... like this pub, you mean? Uuuh- [He glances around. Some booths aren't even lit and the place has a certain griminess to it, like no amount of bleach could ever totally clean it.

Lacking anything good to say about the actual location, he glanced down at his ale. It'd just been something on tap, but even so, it managed to taste a little watered down.]

Ehm, well, now I can, at least, say the company is good, right? [He smiles sheepishly.]
parrishing: (neutral | got a straw)

[personal profile] parrishing 2017-04-05 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ here as in the pub or as in the City; it really doesn't matter to him. He's not picky.

[ when Thom glances around, he can't help but do the same, eyebrows slightly arched as he regards it. It reminds him of the dingy places he's sure his father would frequent. He's not sure how that makes him feel.

[ but at the very least, at least Thom's changing the topic, and Adam manages a bit of a smile in response as he glances back over. ]
Right. From what I've gathered, that's the best part of all of this.

Have you explored anything much?
