WEEK 49 : Modesty
December 18 - 24
Something in the City seems very low-key this week, and no one can pinpoint what it is. What they do know, however, is that everyone’s feeling a little more ’aw shucks’, for lack of a better descriptor. Even the most boastful of individuals is feeling like downplaying their achievements. Perhaps citizens won’t be butting heads quite so often now.

(Players will decide how and to what degree their characters are affected by this and all of the prominence shifts to come. It is entirely optional to be involved with the prominence events. This will last for one in-game week and end on January 24. Please remember that we are on a 3:1 day ratio!)

State of the City At Large:

The Weather
The blizzard of last week is sticking around, making travel from point A to point B a little trickier, but at least there hasn’t been anything more. Some roads are still inaccessible, but most people are managing, albeit with the usual complaints. Perhaps now is the time to go play in a snowdrift for a bit!

Crime
There seems to be a larger influx of Lust infiltrating the City once more, vexing the CSPD thoroughly. One or two Lust-related deaths appear to have happened, though there is nothing to suggest foul play or anything worse than an unfortunate accident.

Crime has generally settled into a constant state, with people apparently sticking to what they’re doing. The major crime rings know what they’re doing, the shadow demons still present know what they’re doing, and no one is really branching out.

The Forensics department at the Police Station has complained briefly of a bit of a back-up. Apparently one of their head staff members is missing.

Rumours
Some fatalists in the City are saying the blizzard is a sort of ‘end of days’ thing. Apparently, no one wants this much of a white Christmas.

There’s talk that things in the Coliseum District are a little bit weird, of late. No one can quite pinpoint what it is, but citizens located in that district seem to be feeling a little more lost. Almost as though their Magistrate was somehow detached from the district. In a similar vein, there are whispers that something might have happened to Justice.

Rumour has it there was another attempted break-in into the Tower in recent days. Security has tightened up, but most guards posted around merely laugh and state that their Tower has the best security around. Apparently, no one can get in there that isn’t already allowed in.

There’s talk that the Emperor is planning some sort of extravaganza for the turn of the New Year.

Question about the snow...

How much snow is on the streets? Are there plows?

As with always, it varies from district to district. The wealthier districts do have plows - the Tower, Finance Street, and most of the Coliseum and Leisurebrook - while the rest of the City has slightly spottier service. Shantytown is the worst, while the Red Lantern District and the Gardens of Pleasure both have some streets open.

Generally, though, there's still at least a foot of snow on the ground, so it's not exactly clear. But you can get places, and there isn't more of it.
