Test Drive Meme 002

Test Drive Meme

Considering apping to the City of Sin, but unsure of who to bring or if they'll fit? Feel free to give the setting a test drive here!

→ Comment with the character you'd like to test drive in the setting, with name and canon in the subject line
→ Choose a scenario, or create your own
→ Tag around

Possible Scenarios
01. A New Arrival: You've just arrived in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a very strange sense of having been displaced. Thankfully, you don't appear to be alone. Here's hoping that person passing by is helpful, and doesn't plan on mugging you or something!

02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Maybe you'll find someone who can help you fight off that shadowy thing that's creeping towards you!

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a party at the Tower by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! Just make sure you watch out for those little red packets of powder.

04. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure!

Anders [Dragon Age] - 03

There was probably something to be said about that fact that after Anders had arrived in this world he had had to deal with learning how to use a light switch but the idea that he could be a party without worrying about being kicked out was what felt the most odd to him. As he lingered by the buffet table, he had to admit that he'd take all of the confusion over new technology if it meant that he didn't have to constantly look over his shoulder.

Or at least, didn't have to look over his shoulder because people were anti-mage or against the actions he had taken in his past. Coming from a war to this modern world had been a bit of a culture shock, but now he was getting used to it.

Used to it, but still not willing to give up robes. There was something that felt right about them. Now for this party he had had a good excuse to use his meager wages to get a nice pair. There were still dark, as was his aesthetic these days, but he didn't have as many feathers this time in favor of a crimson design that ran through the fabric.

As he looked over his choices for the food, he thought the party seemed to be an excess display of wealth. Not that he was really complaining about that just yet. He just didn't have the history to judge if this was an every day affair or if something special was happening.

"Do they usually go all out for these things?" he asked no one in particular.

Jack laughed lightly, stepping up alongside the man. "The Emperor doesn't do anything by halves." He looked the man over. "New here?"

Anders turned to look at the voice and found himself gazing at a very attractive man. So attractive, in fact, that he was certain that his expression made it obvious that he that noticed. He tried to change that expression into something a little less embarrassing and gave Jack a small smile.

"Yes, I suppose that I did just announce that to any one within ear shot, didn't I?"

Jack was both accustomed to that expression and not shy about grinning in response to it.

"No shame in that. People are usually pretty open to helping out new arrivals."

"Yes, I'm afraid I've been relying a little too much on the kindness of strangers," Anders remarked. His shoulders relaxed a bit when Jack didn't seem upset at the idea of another man finding him attractive. "My home is... absolutely nothing like this world. Well, that's not true. We have air. And, um, grass. You people seem to have that too."

"Not that much in the City, but some. What world are you from?" Jack asked curiously.

"Thedas," Anders answered easily. "Have you heard of it?"

"No, but we might be from different times. I'm not from Earth, either. I'm from the colony on Boeshane in the late fifty-first century," Jack told him. A time and place that meant little to most people he ever met.

Anders squinted a bit as he tried to piece together what 'the late fifty-first century' meant. He was still getting used to the way that people tracked years here. "That's lost on me, I'm afraid," he admitted after a moment. "You people don't even have the same months or years as Thedas." His tone was light, even teasing. He wasn't really frustrated over that. There were worse things to be worried about. "I'm guessing that means you're from the future though? How is it?"

"What, on Earth? A bit crowded, from what I hear. I haven't actually been there in my own time."

"I'm not from Earth... I meant more..." He sighs a bit, trying to figure out how to word it. "Do people figure out how not to discriminate against each other?"
