Possible Scenarios
Please note that all characters will initially arrive in their assigned housing; they are free to explore the City to their heart's content after that!

01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach churning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!

02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party in the Tower District that spills out its doors in welcome. Obviously, this whole thing is weird and you don't know who your hosts are, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.

04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences its population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride: choose your sin and be wicked.

05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villain.

06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.

07. Network: There's a network device in your pocket - or at least a familiar object that seems to work in mysterious ways. Perhaps you can take to that and ask for a bit of help? Or maybe you'd prefer to have a little fun with all of this. Surely someone will reply.

08. Wild Card:Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

Chloe Decker | Lucifer

New Arrival

Chloe is good at think-on-your-feet situations. She has to be, with lives on the line. But even she, with her training and her years of experience, has no idea what to do when she finds herself on an unfamiliar street in an even-more-unfamiliar city. Especially when she doesn't know how she got here.

She's already making a list in her head of what needs to happen, and in what order, because missing something important could have disastrous consequences. Her hand goes to her hip, looking for the familiar weight of her gun. Good. Right where it should be. She leaves her hand resting on it while she turns to the next item on her list. The most important item.

"Trixie? Trixie?!"

Network

Okay. So what should I know about this place that *isn't* in the guidebook?

Ah, greetings.

[Have a former professor with a small smile.]

I take it that you are a new arrival, miss...?

Ah! Law enforcement. An admirable profession.

[He smiled.]

I used to be a professor before I arrived here. Charles Xavier. Please let me know if I can help you?

WILDCARD

[personal profile] nothinglikefather 2019-02-03 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily for Chloe, she has a day or two to settle in and get her head around this place to a small degree before she bumps into Jacob Frye. Almost literally.

It's late, dusk is fading seamlessly into night and down in the heart of the Finance district, the casinos are open for people looking for a good time. But there's other buildings too, banks and offices, and it's in one of those that a loud, piercing alarm suddenly goes off.

Jacob curses, grabbing the safety deposit box and heading out as quickly as he can. There's not much of a police presence out here, but there will be security here in a few minutes, and he doesn't much fancy waiting around for them to catch him. The door and windows might all lock tight once the alarm goes off, but the glass in the windows is still glass, probably because no one expects someone to jump out a third story window.

Jacob smashes through it, catching some of the fancy stonework on his way down to slow his fall, and landing on the sidewalk with the precious safety deposit box still held to his chest. He didn't have time to check to see if the pavement below him was clear, or to make sure that there weren't any helpful citizens rushing over to investigate the alarm.

She's had a few days to get settled in, although she's not really settled. There are some things about this place she only believes because she's seen them, and some other things she doesn't want to believe but is seeing more proof for all the time. But despite only being here for a couple of days, she has had time to get a job already, and her shiny new badge is clipped at her hip.

It's an attempt to make sense of this place that is why she's out walking through the City when someone falls out a window and practically lands on top of her. With her instincts and training, it takes her only a split second to put it all together: the bank, the alarm, the fact that someone just exited through a window. The metal box that someone is clutching to his chest. She reaches for the gun strapped to the other hip.

"Police! Stay where you are! Hands in the air!" She might not be on duty at the moment, but that doesn't mean she can't bring someone in.

Jacob straightens up in the moment she pulls the gun, and grins.

"They let ladies be coppers now?" He asks, in a less fancy British accent than the one she might be used to, and then darts away.

Not down the street, but into the darkness of an alley between the building he's just robbed and a casino next door. He's not about to give her a clear shot, now he's given her a reason to pull a weapon on him, and the alleyway happens to be full of trash bags and dumpsters, so that might slow her progress.

She sighs and rolls her eyes, because of course, and follows him into the alley. She leaves the gun leveled in front of her, because who knows what other kind of threats are lurking in this alley, and she wants to leave him covered if she catches him. Which she's not giving up on yet; the alley isn't that different from some alleys she's been down in Los Angeles. But there's only one of her here, and it's an alley she doesn't know at all, which does slow her down a bit in her pursuit.

Jacob might not be quite as good as Evie when it comes to sneaking in places, but he isn't an amateur when it comes to hiding. The alleyway continues, all the way between the buildings and opens out on another main road on the next block, but he hasn't bothered to run that way. It's darker than the main streets and he's ducked down behind one of the dumpsters. She might have seen him hide, maybe she didn't, considering the darkness after the main street.

He could just kill her, that would be the end of it, but that doesn't seem to be the right answer here. He can get out of this another way, even if it does involve knocking her out.

Who'd think a box full of blueprints would cause so much fuss?

[personal profile] dominusvobiscum 2019-02-10 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
She doesn't care what he stole, he still stole it. And there are a lot of things he could do with blueprints once he has them, and that's what worries her, too.

She didn't see him hide, so when she continues down the alley with the gun extended in front of her, she don't hesitate to walk right past every dumpster in it, including the one with him behind it. She could probably stand to be a little more cautious, but she's got a lot to learn about the city still.

The box is very carefully set down in the dark shadows, out of the way and leaving both his hands free. He might just be able to sneak out the way he came, but he doesn't trust that he can do it soundlessly, and he has seen the way she holds that gun. Both hands, very steady, and with the relaxed attitude of someone who is very good at aiming.

And as such, it seems to him that he needs to make sure she can't fire it at him.

So he gets up from his hiding place, silent as he can, and clears the couple of steps between them, one arm going around her throat and the other around her arms to pin them to her sides.

"You aren't very good at hide and seek, are you?" He asks softly, arm pressing against her throat. "I don't want to hurt you, so why don't you just take a little nap, alright?"

Jacob might be used to a certain sort of woman, being from a time and place where women are expected to act differently, but Chloe is not that sort of woman. She might be unable to move her arms or use her gun, but she's still got feet. Feet that can be used for kicking.

Which is what she does, trying to reach anything soft that she can, before finally stomping down hard on one of his feet with one of hers.

There's a hiss of pain, but instead of his hold on her relaxing, the grip tightens and his arm is pressed harder into her pale throat.

"I said I didn't want to hurt you, alright?"

He repeats. And truthfully, he knows this will probably hurt a bit. But less than being stabbed, shot, kicked in the fork or punched. He'd rather not have her hold this against him too long, or have the entire department against him, moreso than already.

She is definitely not giving up that easily. She doesn't give up on anything that easily, even if sometimes she maybe should. She didn't get where she did by giving up, after all. And it hasn't been easy to get where she did.

She can't aim at anything specific, but she knows firsthand how distracting any kind of gunshot can be. So she squeezes the trigger, knowing that whatever she hits, it won't be vital, if she even hits him at all.

Then she relaxes in an attempt to slide out of his grip.

Hopefully she doesn't mind the loud curse in her ear as the bullet fires, and although it doesn't hit him it's bloody lucky neither of them are hit. In an alley like this, with a concrete floor and two tall buildings on either side that it doesn't ricochet off a wall and hit either of them.

"What the bloody hell was that? Trying to kill both of us?"

His surprise at such a bloody stupid act means that she can slip out of his grasp, and yeah, he'll kick himself over that for days to come.
