Possible Scenarios
Please note that all characters will initially arrive in their assigned housing; they are free to explore the City to their heart's content after that!01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach churning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!
02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?
03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party in the Tower District that spills out its doors in welcome. Obviously, this whole thing is weird and you don't know who your hosts are, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.
04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences its population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride: choose your sin and be wicked.
05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villain.
06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.
07. Network: There's a network device in your pocket - or at least a familiar object that seems to work in mysterious ways. Perhaps you can take to that and ask for a bit of help? Or maybe you'd prefer to have a little fun with all of this. Surely someone will reply.
08. Wild Card:Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!
Dan Cain - ReAnimator - OPEN
He thought he'd gotten over it after that thing pulled her heart from her chest but maybe Dan would never get over it. His life had been perfect before meeting West. He had been planning to marry the woman he loved, he'd been a promising young doctor and a favorite at the school.
Now what was he?
Dan was lost, a drunk and feeling like the rug had once again been pulled out from beneath him. He should go to the hospital, find a phone, do something to contact… someone, but he wondered if anyone was looking for him anymore. After everything with West, he had Francesca but she'd be better off without him.
Everyone would be better off without him.
He was done with West, done with this weird shit happening.
Dan waved towards the bartender and ordered another shot. The man behind the bar gave him a look but poured the whiskey. Dan's chiseled features made him look handsome, drunk or sober, and more than a few bar patrons stared as he sat in a wallow of self-pity. He was obvious to the rest of the room and unless told, he'd spend the night at the bar or maybe just the fifty dollars that he had to his name.
Or we can do something that is random that takes place in the city; meeting at a party, confused tourist on the streets or crazy attack by demon. Let me know and I can write up a starter. I am good with anyone and excited to have Dan here.
He will also be less depressing after he realizes that Meg is alive and in the city.]
(let me know if this works, or I can edit?)
Rolling up to the bar beside him, Charles placed some money down on the bar and gave the bartender a look. Go ahead and serve him, the look said. He'd try to take care of this one.
"Hey," he murmured to Dan. He turned his chair so that he was facing him. "You... You look pretty beat up. May I inquire if you're okay? Did you just arrive here? Because this place can be pretty traumatizing when you first show up." He knew, he had no reason to stick his nose in. And it would probably be unwelcome, but that wouldn't stop him from trying to be a friend.
"Can I help? My name's Charles."
Looks good.
"Do I look okay?" He took the shot and knocked it back before once again slamming the glass against the counter. It echoed and Dan winced. "No. Not okay."
What was the point of saying otherwise?
Now that Charles was closer, he'd be able to see that Dan's clothes were in a sorry state. He was covered in dirt with dark spots of maroon blood staining the worn fabric. He didn't look like he really cared about it though. "Dan. Daniel Cain." He gestured to the shot glass as it was refilled. "Thanks."
Re: Looks good.
He didn't know about what just happened or how much pain Charles had actually been in, so Charles didn't get angry or give him any satisfaction of looking ruffled. That was more Erik's speed. "I'm sorry you're not okay. I would help, if I can. If you feel like talking."
Charles motioned to the bartender and ordered a drink to go with his shot. He could see that the man really should go to the hospital, or that would be his guess, but he doubted that would be a good conversation opener. He had to try to gain the man's trust first.
"Charles Xavier. Some people used to call me professor, but that... That was a long time ago now." He sighed, looking around the bar, anywhere except Daniel. He didn't want the lad to think he was staring.

This was his punishment for letting Megan die.
"Charles." He slurred the name but there was a certain amount of effort in the repetition. "Why do you want to help me?" Dan had never met anyone so altruistic before. He assumed, that like West, there was some angle that he didn't know about.
Dan reached for his shot glass, slipped and spilled the liquor all over the counter and himself. "Damn it."
no subject
Not that the last attempt at doing just that had any sort of success.
Charles didn't laugh. He watched Dan, worried for him. "I like to help people. I have no motive in this. I want nothing. I just... I don't want to see people in pain." He sighed, giving Dan a look. "Perhaps we should get you cleaned up or call it a night, hmm? Can I help you find your way home?"
no subject
"I'm a doctor. I'm supposed to be able to save people, struggle against death, not get them killed." He grabbed the shot glass and realized then that his fingers were shaking. How much had he drank before Charles joined him at the bar.
"Help people." It felt like walking along the edge of a blade. "It sounds so easy in theory." But Dan didn't know what would help him or what he could do to help other.
He rested his forehead on the back of his hand and once again shook his head. "I don't know what I'm doing." Here or anywhere else.
no subject
His head slowly nodded. "Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can't save everyone. That's just how it is, unfortunately." He should know. He's been trying to save Erik for years. "You're a doctor. You are still a good person. You took an oath. Nobody is perfect. All you can do is try your best."
Charles stared up at Dan. "It does sound easy, but it's not." He reached out and took another sip of his drink. "That's why you became a doctor in the first place, wasn't it? Wanting to help people?"
"So, take it one day at a time. Let's start with you getting some rest and some clean clothes, hmmm?"
no subject
He didn't remember the last time he'd lived alone...
"I'm not so sure if I'm a good person." He ran his palm down his face. "But you are. Thanks. For this." Dan's sentences were a little disjointed but he was trying to make sense. For the moment, he was succeeding.
"I still don't know what I want to do here or if I should keep being a doctor." Years of medical school, his time in the war, what was that all worth? At the same time, Dan knew he was whining. There was no way he wouldn't continue his work. He wasn't capable of doing nothing, he needed that something in his life.
Dan glanced down at his soiled shirt and pants and almost laughed. The shirt was ripped and open while everything was covered in dirt and blood. "Yeah. I looked like I crawled out of a grave yard." Which was exactly what had happened.
Wildcard - Like I wouldn't jump on this.
He had spent hours getting himself out of that rubble, his watch busted, it still worked but the glass was ruined. He shouldn't be wearing it in the hospital yet, it was a reminder, something dear that was broken besides his heart at Dan running off with that tramp. Being in this strange city for a few weeks with Megan had been, well strange. More so after their last big blow up, but he was doing his best. The nurse; Emily, had come to fetch him. A victim of a mugging, shot with no ID had been brought in. He followed her until he saw who was laying on that bed. 'Why must I always be right...' He knew Dan would follow Megan.
"Go get someone else. I can't work on him." Herbert had not said no yet. Taking the paperwork he signed off on it, filling in Dan's chart, of course he knew Dan's information, why wouldn't he. Though he left the work to someone else. He went and made a call to the apartment, to give Megan a heads up, and a room number. He tried to time his peaking in and checking charts for when he was sure Daniel would be sedated, a day or so after arrival he got careless, silently walking in, and lifting the charts assuming Dan to be asleep.

Maybe it'd all been a dream? But he knew better than that.
"No." His voice was soft and rough. "West is dead. I saw-" His torso shook as he struggled to breath. "The roof collapsed..." Dan began to struggle but the steady drip into his arm calmed him. It hurt to breathe and that's when he remembered.
He'd been stumbling out of the bar when the man... he'd been shot through a lung or maybe it'd been his side? Danny blindly groped at his bandages but he was too far gone to know what he was feeling. The haze shame of West was in the room.
A dream... this had to be a dream...

However, as Dan spoke a crossed look fell across his features. "Fuck you, Cain." Oh he said it, that sailors mouth coming out to show their was emotion there. He usually didn't curse at Dan, usually at failed projects or people in his way. It wasn't Dan, Daniel or Danny. Cain was a sign that the little scientist, real or not was not pleased with him. "Stop moving before you bust your stitches." Venom in his tone, pain inside he was ignoring, how dare he.

It was only when Meg came to see him that he was lucid enough to remember. That had felt like a dream but then he'd hugged her and felt the warmth of her skin beneath his hands. He was never going to let anything else happen to her. For as long as he was with her, he was going to protect her, even if she didn't want him anymore. Dan didn't care.
Two years had passed and he'd never stopped thinking about her; never stopped loving her.
The sobering thought was that Herbert was there too, likely at the hospital, which meant that his dream might not have been a dream. If it wasn't then... Dan frowned as he sat up in his bed. The bullet had missed his lung by a hairs breath but had gone cleanly through his side. He was going to have to stay in the hospital for a day or two under observation but then he'd be free to go.
Where was he going to go?
His nurse was kind and cute. Dan gave her his most dazzling smile and asked to see Doctor West. It looked like the woman was going to cry as she left the room but she'd agreed to go get him.
no subject
Dan had kept him from going completely off the deep end, like Hans had been a guilding light to keep him from going to far. Now Megan was a voice of the reason. He wanted Daniel to be happy, he did, but he was hurt deeply. He hadn't even told Megan why he was mad at Dan just that he intended to... Fight the giant that was Daniel Cain. He couldn't while Dan was hurt, and Megan had laughed at him and informed him he'd get his ass kicked, but he was mad.
When the nurse came, Herbert was on break again. Leaning over an outside railing, his mind running. He had everyone short of this nurse convinced he was just harmless but moody. "What." Was all he said to her. It took an hour before he finally gave into the voice in his head. Appearing stoicly in the doorway adjusting his glasses before walking in picking up Dan's charts out of reach, a moment it would be clear if Dan looked, he had on the waych he had worn for years but it looked broken now. "You are stable, Mr. Cain, you have no reason to need to speak to a doctor. Much less one who refused your case." The venom still in his tone, but even that didn't hide the underlying hurt. His ice princess act only goes so far.

"West." His voice was weak and his throat dry. "I didn't ask you to come be my doctor." There was so much that he wanted to say and ask him but something was wrong. The dream he had... it really hadn't been a dream.
Dan's voice lowered and he exhaled a tired pained breath. "What happened to you?" He had seen West die. He had been happy... not because West was dead but because he'd finally shaken off the pain of the past. It'd been an flickering second and then he was here, Megan was here, and he was back in the past. West was... Dan didn't fucking know. He was a fixed point in his life for over two years and he'd taken care of Megan in this world. Dan knew his opinions on Megan and knew that it'd been for him...
So why...
no subject
"Then you have no need to see me, Dr. Cain." he spoke, cold as ice. The hazel eyes behind the large frames sizing him down, still looking at the stitches, subpar he could have done better. "Do not pretend to care. You left me to die, Again." It took everything in him not to scream, to keep his ground. He was building a reputation here.
no subject
They were finally all back together.
This was what they had been working towards.
So what the fuck was wrong?!
"I didn't ask for a doctor!" His voice was tense and exasperated. "Damn it West! I thought you were dead?! Did you want me to die with you? Of course I care about you!? Why the hell would I have stayed with you for the last two years? Do you think it was just because of Meg? You're my best friend." He wanted to stand and scream but the endorphins were fading and the pain at his side was beginning to throb.

A deep breath and she finally reached up tapping lightly on the door before pushing it open and stepping into the room. The smell of antiseptic and running medical equipment hitting her much harder with in the walls of that room. There he was, Daniel Cain. Her beautiful, broken dream. that was a long time ago for him though wasn't it? No words were spoken as she made her way over to the bed, careful of bandages and IV wires and simply laid her head on his chest bringing her other hand up lying it next to her head on his chest. She could hear his heart beating, barely over the loud pounding of her own. It was a comfort to her. It was then that the tears started falling.
no subject
"Meg?" His voice crocked as he reached out to her.
It was a dream. It had to be a dream. Two years and he hadn't been able to bring Meg back to life. Now she was here. Had the bullet killed him?
Warmth blossomed in his chest as the pressure of her touch registered in his memory. He moved his hand and gently pet her head; the same gesture he had made a hundred times while cuddling in his bed. "Meg." His voice was low and deep. "It's okay. I'm here." Dan wasn't completely awake but he continue, spilling out the feelings he'd kept locked in his chest for nearly two years. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I won't let that happen again."
The echoing beeps of his heart monitor rang through his head and he felt himself slowly realize the truth.
Meg was here...
no subject
He spoke about protecting her, apologozing. She shook her head firmly looking up to him. "I don't need protected. I just need you." She leaned up gently kissing his cheek. "Just be here. That's all I need."
no subject
"Meg." He pulled her gently, trying to hold her while not torquing his side. "I never wanted to leave you."
Everything suddenly hit him, like he was waking up from a dream. For two years he had been searching for Meg but now she was here. "Meg, I love you." He didn't want to go a single second without at least telling her that much. Dan would have done anything if it meant having her back.
no subject
She moved with his gentle tug trying to get closer and more semi cuddling with out him moving too much or her falling on top of the poor man. " I know you didn't. Herbert told me how hard it was for you. I don't want you guys to ever have to go through that again."
And then he said he loved her, those words she was certain she'd never hear again from him. Looking up to him " And I love you." she said before leaning up enough to kiss him gently.
no subject
His arms rose and wrapped around her shoulders as she moved closer. It was a little awkward but he shifted and made room for her to lay along his side on the hospital bed. If he hadn't been shot through the side then he would very much suggest something else that they could have done on this bed.
It was probably good that he couldn't really move.
"Meg-" He groaned her name as their lips met. Warmth, passion and fire ignited in his chest, stoking a need in him that had died with her. His fingers laced through her hair and his returned her kiss with two years of desires aching to be released.
no subject
She knew to be very careful, she was trying to get Dan out of the hospital rather than make him have to stay longer, but she'd missed him so very very much. Her hands lifting to the side of his face as she pulled back just a little. " We have to get you better." placing smaller kisses to his face.
no subject
Warmth pulsed through him and the heart monitor skipped a beat as he rested his forehead against hers. The doctor in him knew that she couldn't stay like this but he was happy just to hold her for a little while longer.
He groaned softly but smiled at her. "I'll get better. Anything for you Meg." He missed her so much and there was so much that he wanted to tell her but now didn't feel like the right moment. He wanted to drown in her heat, her goodness, in everything that he'd feel in love with over two years ago.
"I can't believe you're really here. I've missed you so much."
