Possible Scenarios
Please note that all characters will initially arrive in their assigned housing; they are free to explore the City to their heart's content after that!01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach churning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!
02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?
03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party in the Tower District that spills out its doors in welcome. Obviously, this whole thing is weird and you don't know who your hosts are, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.
04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences its population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride: choose your sin and be wicked.
05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villain.
06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.
07. Network: There's a network device in your pocket - or at least a familiar object that seems to work in mysterious ways. Perhaps you can take to that and ask for a bit of help? Or maybe you'd prefer to have a little fun with all of this. Surely someone will reply.
08. Wild Card:Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

He ran through the conversation again, the key's held tightly in his hand as he drifted off into a dreamless sleep. Dan hadn't had the time or the clarity to think through the conversation. The drugs were a steady drip and they were blurring any deep thought.
Dan was checking his own stitches when West walked in. He knew this wasn't his friends work, it was sloppy and it was going to scar. Damn it. He already had one scar across his abdomen.
He focused on West and noticed that it was the first time that he'd used his first name since he'd been admitted to the hospital. "Yeah?"

He wanted to slap Dan's hands away from the stitches, had he been a patient and not a medically trained doctor he might have, but a warning look was given as Herbert sat watching him. "I am going to say something, and it will be blunt. You've lived with me long enough to be prepared for that, so once I speak my peace then you may speak. Until then, shut up." the last two words sharper, colder.
"I did not kill Rufus. I did not aim to get Dean Halsey killed, I did not kill Megan." He stated these things plainly. "I became over zealous with our work and cost you a bodily injury, but I brought us home as you wanted. I worked, I contributed, I dealt with your onslaught of whores you brought into our home. I did not like that, and you knew this, but you did it anyway. I even tried to save your bloody tramp. I have not told Megan about her either. So, despite me surviving what Hill did, you decided centuries old concrete, if it was even that, would be what killed me. You didn't even bother to check. So, do not lie to me. You were relieved, and if not at the very least you were frightened. Admit to me, tell me the truth and we can pick up and leave it in the past." At least until next time he wants to get mad. Then it will be the first weapon picked up.

When West was finished, Dan reorganized his thoughts and spoke the truth...
"I never thought you killed Rufus. I don't think you'd go out of your way to physically harm anyone and I never blamed you for Megan's death." He knew that Herbert would accidentally get people killed but that didn't have the same intent as murder. West wanted to preserve life as much as Dan did and it was something they both struggled with; as doctors and as human beings. Megan's death was more complicated. Dan had spent two years hung up on her but it wasn't because of West, it was because he blamed himself for her death. It'd been his choice to go along with West's experiments and he hadn't been able to protect her from the result.
He'd never blamed West for that, he wouldn't have been able to live with the man if they weren't struggling to stop the torment that death had brought them both.
"I know that you thought about me and helped me." In his own way. "Thank you for not telling Megan. If possible, I'd like to tell her about the last two years, at least the parts concerning her." Dan didn't want to keep any more secrets from her or from West. Life was too short and Dan constantly seemed to run into life or death situations. "I didn't check after the tomb collapsed. I thought you were dead and I had mixed feelings about it. I acted without thinking." Dan took a deep breath and kept talking. "I care to much about you to really leave you but if you were dead... I wouldn't be able to continue the reagent research without you. It would end everything."
It hurt to be honest and Dan realized that the reason he hadn't told West any of this was because he felt guilty for the way he had felt. He hadn't wanted West to be mad at him or to leave him behind. Herbert West was the last person in his life who understood him.
"I was probably scared and relived. I don't know for sure. It was so much more than all of that." Dan met Herbert's gaze with an unflinching stare. "That's the truth."

Hill; Now he fuckin' murdered Hill's ass.
Bitch, had it coming. Stealing from Gruber then breaking into their home and threatening his work and Dan's life. "That is mostly true, I am not fond of violence for the sake of it. Only with purpose. To protect our life..s." He added the s after a second realizing how that sounded.
"It wasn't my place to tell her, the idea of you possibly coming has kept Miss Halsey going." He spoke, leaving it at that. "Tell her when you come home, preferably in the day time, as I work the day time hours." Meaning, he didn't want to be home when that happens. Mostly because that's to much emotion for one little science man.
He stayed silent as Dan spoke on from there though. Listening, weighing the mans sins against him against a feather. "The basement was fine, you dolt. My notes could have been salvaged. If this ever happens again, you find me. You revive me. Do NOT ever leave me in the dark like that again. Or when I come back, I will find you and I wont forgive it again." A dangerous edge to his tone before he took a breath, and reached up pushing his glasses up like armor to protect himself. "That said, I am a man of my word. We can continue as roommates and friends if you so wish it. Megan currently lives with me as you know, and unless you have a nicer home, you are welcomed to come. Simply know it is one bedroom, Megan has reign over the bedroom." Herbert slept on the couch when he slept at all.

His mouth curved into a slightly amused smile. "Yeah. Don't worry. I'll make sure that you're out of the house when I tell her." He paused a second and looked up at his old friend. "And that nothing gets broken." Dan loved Megan but she wasn't always the calmest person when she was upset and she'd have every right to be upset after he told her about the creature that he and West had built using her heart.
His brow furrowed and he stared at West. "The basement didn't collapse? I didn't get a chance to check. I was in the yard right after the crash and then I was here." His only clothes were the bloody muddy rags he'd woken up in. He paused and focused on taking a few steadying breaths. It didn't matter what had happened, he was here now and they needed to look towards the future.
"I won't leave you." Dan met his gaze this time, letting West know that he wasn't lying. "Never again. I'll go as far as I did with Meg and make sure that you come back." He's never had a friend like West before but he treasured that friendship, the trust and years of experience they shared. There wasn't a single person in his career that he felt knew him the way that West did. They'd been to war and back together.
West wasn't someone he could replace, just as he hadn't been able to replace Meg.

"I dont care if things get broken, Daniel. Tell her, get it out of your system and recharge your batteries. You are of no use to me like this." He didn't intend to let Dan back in the lab, hell he was tempted to skip going home tonight and get to work on finding a roof to put over their heads so he could keep them from mating in the bed that was supposed to be his. If Meg broke something, well, it was better than her snorting his lack of coke.
"No, you fool, it was the crypt. I knew it was unstable, the house was fine. That was where I came back through and left." Yes, he said left. He was from a few days after Daniel had left him. "I am from a few days after you then. I can tell you, you didn't come back before I left." He had planned to run, but in the long term, his name was on the house so, he would come back to work and that would be what got him arrested in a few months. Without Dan to help, his monsters would kill an innocent.
Herbert kept his look trained, but the hazel eyes were just a touch softer. Dan had a special place in that cold black heart, he actually smiled then. Not the diabolical smile or a plotting grin, a rare calm look. "You had better, that is all I have to say. Now, you need to relax, tell me how to help you. I get off in an hour and I have a lot to do before you arrive to your new home." Forgiven, for now.

He'd be a doctor again but Meg was alive, nothing kept him lashed to West like before. There was the research but Dan wondered if he had that here. He remembered them pouring over notes and tests... if anything else, Dan can help pull bits and pieces of it from his memory but he wondered how useful he'd be to West. "Yeah." He felt his throat dry as he nodded in agreement.
"Sorry." Dan had no memory of leaving West but he could hear the hurt in his voice. It wasn't like Dan could go far, everyone knew that he'd been living there with West and those things... if Herbert lived then did those weird grotesque things live?
He shivered at the thought.
"Yeah." He was down to two syllable words right now. Dan was feeling a bit of back lash from all this and he wasn't sure what he was feeling. He shook himself and was determined to complete a full sentence. "I'll be discharged tomorrow morning. I'll come by then."

After all, Daniel did take care of him when he couldn't be bothered to take care of himself. Daniel fed him, made sure he left the work at times, reminded him to rest, and kept him company. Maybe that was why he hated the women, the idea that one day that care would be removed all together in favor of a womans love instead of his coldness.
Herbert had killed the rest of them before he left. They were gone and into the incinerator, along with Hill's head.
"I digress." He spoke as he stood up, finally lifting Dan's bandages looking over the stitches. "That fool couldn't even do a good job. No wonder you are shifting in pain. I should have done this myself." He complained, before putting the bandages back. "You will have another scar, my apologies." He spoke still standing. "No, Miss Halsey will pick you up tomorrow when you are discharged. She will drive you home, where you will be welcomed and heal more. I wont promise to be there, but, I will see you again soon, very soon. So, do rest."

He nodded his head in agreement. Dan couldn't help but think about the state of this apartment. It was going to be tight and he wondered if either of them were eating well. Meg was observant but Herbert needed more in order to take care of himself. Dan's sure that he would have snapped long ago if it wasn't for the forced meals or the random nights they took off.
"I'll see you then."
Dan settled into bed and tried to quiet his thoughts.

"Yes, until then. Oh, and Danny." He spoke a touch softer. "I am glad you are here." That said he closed the door behind himself vanishing off to finish his shift and get to house hunting. He'd take a hit of Reagent and be good for a few days yet.
