State of the City : Optimism

WEEK 50 : Optimism
December 25 - 31
This week’s City-wide influence may be noted, by some, to come on slowly. It creeps up instead of hitting hard, and maybe it’s just an extension of all that festive spirit that seems to be floating around town, but it’s pleasant anyway. By the end of the week - and the year, for that matter - citizens and Chosen alike, there will be a warm sense of optimism: today is great, tomorrow will be better, and the new year is going to be utterly fantastic.

(Players will decide how and to what degree their characters are affected by this and all of the prominence shifts to come. It is entirely optional to be involved with the prominence events. This will last for one in-game week and end on February 14. Please remember that we are on a 3:1 day ratio!)

State of the City At Large:

The Weather
As of Christmas Day, the snow seems to have properly stopped. Most major roads are cleared up now, but there are still a handful of side streets that are less than accessible. Most people are dealing with the snow pretty well, though, and at least it’s nice to look at. Still cold, though, so stay bundled up.

Crime
There seems to be a larger influx of Lust infiltrating the City once more, vexing the CSPD thoroughly. A few Lust-related deaths appear to have happened, though there is nothing to suggest foul play or anything worse than an unfortunate accident.

The CSPD has reported that they’ve finally begun to catch up on the backlog of dead bodies. Congratulations, CSPD!

Rumours
Some fatalists in the City are saying the blizzard is a sort of ‘end of days’ thing. Apparently, no one wants this much of a white Christmas. Though considering it’s stopped, they can’t complain too much.

There’s talk that things in the Coliseum District are a little bit weird, of late. No one can quite pinpoint what it is, but citizens located in that district seem to be feeling a little more lost. Almost as though their Magistrate was somehow detached from the district. In a similar vein, there are whispers that something might have happened to Justice.

Rumour has it there was another attempted break-in into the Tower in recent days. Security has tightened up, but most guards posted around merely laugh and state that their Tower has the best security around. Apparently, no one can get in there that isn’t already allowed in.

There’s talk that the Emperor is planning some sort of extravaganza for the turn of the New Year.

Questions? Like to arrange a meeting with an NPC? Fire away! If you wish to arrange a meeting with an NPC, please give the mods details on what you’d like to achieve so that we’re capable of providing.

Additionally, feel free to use this as a plotting post for the upcoming week!

NPC THINGS for both Eliot and Sera

I'd like to have Eliot meet with Moon. It would be super good if they could just sort of... run into each other, rather than Eliot having to make an appointment. My ideas for the thread include a bit of talking about the Magistrates' role in the City, how Eliot 'belongs' to the district, and how they're both hurting. Basically, sad commiserating times ;; Would that be possible?

And a couple of thoughts specific to the New Year's Eve party:

-Eliot and the Emperor. This would p r o b a b l y be a relatively short thread, since Eliot basically wants to shake his hand and see what kind of impression he gets from the guy.

-Sera and the Emperor. So... Sera arrived in the city with a single Jar of Bees, and then the Emperor was so kind as to provide her with a picture of his face :x In Red Jenny fashion, she's going to plan on disrupting the party by lobbing the bees at the Emperor. She won't be doing this with the intention of seriously hurting him or anyone else — she just wants to cause chaos. And maybe hurt him a little bit.

(ETA: Those last two are assuming the Emperor's even going to be at the party, which I realize he might not be)

NPC Things

Rogue would like to make a deal with a Magistrate! She's heard whispers that the Emperor occasionally does such things, and so she'd like to arrange a meeting to discuss the possibility with him. (Unless another Magistrate would be better suited for such a task.)

The deal in question: She wants the psyches in her head removed. Preferably just the negative ones, but she's willing to consider the possibility that it may be an all or nothing arrangement. She has no idea what that sort of act might cost her, but she's willing to do an awful lot to make it happen, if necessary.

Do your worst?
