Possible Scenarios
01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!

02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out its doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously, that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.

04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked.

05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian.

06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.

07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

"I haven't heard your playing in a long time," she admits, staring down at his hand in wonder before quite literally throwing herself at him to hug him tightly. "I think I'd know it anywhere. I've missed you."

And she's probably seeming rather strange right now, but he was one of her best friends and his loss has been felt keenly, though she'd hoped he was happy. To have him here again is a mixed bag of sorrow that he's been taken again, and selfish, delighted glee at having her friend back.

The hug is returned, but he laughs again.

"I hope you'd know it anywhere. There's nothing like it." He pulls back a bit, his hands on her arms, and looks at her curiously. "But it really hasn't been that long, has it?"

He's been playing less often than usual, but he hadn't given it up or anything.
asthedrivensnow: (due consideration)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-18 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing in the world," she agrees, revelling in the hug before it breaks. She doesn't want it to be weird. Greyish blue eyes meet his much brighter ones, and a sad truth in her gaze belies her gentle smile. "Actually, it has."

She gestures gracefully at the park, but means the city in general.

"Rather a lot has changed in a year."

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-18 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
He looks around, one eyebrow arched. "A year? I saw you...two days ago...." His voice fades.

The city has changed. Apollo is gone, and....

"Oh," he says with a frown. "I see."

Sort of. There are questions, but the time thing? That's easy enough to accept. What's a little time jump to someone like him? Especially only a year's worth.
asthedrivensnow: (i know something you don't...)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-18 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
She shakes her head mutely, waiting for him to put the pieces together.

He's a quick study, she knows, but it's still uncomfortable to watch someone come to the realisation they're a stranger in a strange land again.

"Welcome to the City of Sin," she offers ruefully. "They didn't bother gussying up the name this go-round."
golden_lyre: (furrowed brow)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-18 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
"City of Sin, hm? Well, that's...straightforward."

He's long been a fan of sinning. It's an intriguing notion.

"You've been here a year? Alone? Or...?"
asthedrivensnow: (are you quite sure?)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-18 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Isn't it? I'm surprised more people don't take it at face value."

Sinning is a secretly delightful notion, sometimes. Her own has tripped her up on occasion, but there are others she goes along with quite willingly. And frequently.

"Not exactly. The Magistrates," and the word is capitalised, "don't admit it happened, but a dozen or so of us somehow managed to stay in the old city when it died. Or imploded. Something significant that no ones been able to pin down... and still others have found their way back."

She frowns, then smoothes her expression.

"You'd know them," she tells him. "Aramis. Erik, Draco, Jack... Diana. Handy, too, I think. David."

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-18 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Orpheus nods as she lists the names, then frowns a little, brow furrowed.

"Julian? Blaine?"

At least her Frenchman made it. That's something.
asthedrivensnow: (it's alright to look past the hair)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-19 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"No."

No sense in sugar coating it.

And her Frenchman did make it, and is now very much hers. There were vows and legal documents. She'd have liked him to be there, but circumstances...

"...are you hungry? The sandwiches at the cafe I get my lunch from are absolutely enormous. We can share."
golden_lyre: (neck rubbing)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-19 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
He'll be happy to hear about it, but he wouldn't have been a good guest to have there. He doesn't get along with weddings very well.

"Poor David," he says, shaking his head.

But her offer reminds him that he hasn't actually eaten anything today, and he smiles. "Some things remain constant, I see." He appreciates her need to look after him, though. It's a pleasant change from what he'd become used to.
asthedrivensnow: (bright smile)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-19 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
She knows. But he was - is? - her friend, and she'd still have invited him. If he wants to know, she'll tell him the basics, and that she's happy.

"He's still educating the masses through poetry," she replies, head tilting. "So he's not doing too badly."

His smile draws forth her own, and she gestures an invitation to sit back down on the grass. Her skirt is charmed against dirt and stains, so she won't mind sitting with him under the tree.

"I can't help it. You're terrible at looking after yourself."
golden_lyre: (neck rubbing)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-20 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
"I do just fine," he argues, half-hearted. He's certainly better nourished for her efforts.

Dropping easily back to the grass, he makes himself comfortable. "And it's been a year since the City...imploded?"
asthedrivensnow: (huh. you don't say.)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-20 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Then you're sweet to indulge me," is her wry response as she settles elegantly on the grass beside him.

The brown paper bag is opened, and she unwraps a huge chicken and salad sandwich cut into two triangles, offering it to him.

"Mm-hmm. We were still in the old City last February, then there was an unexplainable event and we woke here on January first, last year." She frowns. "It feels significantly longer."
golden_lyre: (sunny)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-20 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
He takes the sandwich and has a thoughtful bite, chewing slowly as he listens.

When she finishes he waves a hand not-quite not-dismissively. "Time. It's...not worth counting on."

For him, after all, it feels like a day.

"What have you been up to, then? In that year."
asthedrivensnow: (i know something you don't...)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-20 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
She's starting to hate time, really. It's robbed her of things she wants and things she's yet to have.

"Well," she begins in answer, once her bite of sandwich is swallowed. "I... was the first of the Chosen - that's what they call us, here - to die."

Nasty piece of business, that was.

"Murder by slow poisoning," she adds, then takes another neat bite.
golden_lyre: (furrowed brow)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-20 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Orpheus arched an eyebrow, his concern muted mostly by the fact that she was here and talking to him and clearly not dead. Not even undead.

"That's one I've not tried," he admitted. "I can't imagine it was pleasant."

He leans toward her just a bit, shoulder touching hers, providing warmth, at least, and as much support as she might wish.
asthedrivensnow: (this smile is entirely unforced)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-20 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
She'll take that lean and all it stands for, thank you.

"Not particularly, no," she agrees. "There's a drug here called Lust. It's wonderful, until it melts your insides. No one knew I'd return, so I had the added trauma of waking in a morgue."

And all that entails. She has a very specific set of scars on her head and torso, now.

"But I also married Aramis."

And there's her smile.
golden_lyre: (big smile)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-21 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Lust, hm? Appropriate."

And intriguing, though he doesn't say that out loud. New city, new vices.

At her smile, he grins, though, brightly. "Congratulations. I hope your Frenchman knows how lucky he is."
asthedrivensnow: (bright smile)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-21 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
"In small doses," she shrugs. She'd enjoyed the bits of powdered happiness at the time. "But I'm not joking. My organs liquified."

But subject change!

He gets a bright smile.

"I think he does, and it's lovely of you to say so." Another tiny bite. "I hope, if you stay a while, that you'd come visit on occasion."
golden_lyre: (happy)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-02-24 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Liquifying organs would be new for him as well. And that's intriguing for entirely different reasons.

"I would be honored to be your guest, Madame..." He laughs, considering. "Did you take his name?"
asthedrivensnow: (not hiding anything)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-02-25 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
To be honest, it's a lovely drug when first used. But then the flu-like symptoms become body shutting down symptoms, and then coma and death. If he wants to try it, to that point? She'll be disappointed. But she'll understand the draw of it to start with.

"...d'Aramis," she provides, with a soft smile that lights her eyes. "I did. It seems odd to me not to do so, and I know I'm nearly half a century behind most everyone else here, but it's simply how I am."
golden_lyre: (neck rubbing)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-03-02 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Madam d'Aramis," he says with a grin, then he shrugs. "I can't keep track of the customs anymore. People used to just take whoever's name was most advantageous."
asthedrivensnow: (a sunny sort of smile)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-03-03 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Some old families follow matrilineal naming customs if there are no cadet branch males to carry a name," Narcissa nods. "But I'm one of three daughters of a younger son, and I have male cousins from his elder brother. I'm not expected to keep Black."

Not that it matters, here. She took René's name because she wanted to.

And for all that she holds no real fondness for Draco's father at the point she left, she'll still do her duty. She's been told she grows to love him, and that's enough for now.

"And I think he likes that I took his name."
golden_lyre: (dimples)

[personal profile] golden_lyre 2017-03-08 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
"No doubt he does," Orpheus agrees. "You'll hear no judgment from me."

There were no names to take when he was to be married. And he's more than a little old-fashioned.
asthedrivensnow: (this smile is entirely unforced)

[personal profile] asthedrivensnow 2017-03-08 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
"One of many reasons I like you," she grins, and has another bite of sandwich. She's old-fashioned, too, compared to most here - though he has a significantly older portion of it.

"In all seriousness, I'm glad to see you," she adds. "This place is... this place, I suppose, but it's good to have you here."
