Adam slid a hesitant glance to the newcomer, then exhaled. Despite his hitching voice and protests, his mind was oddly clear; he wasn't nearly as panicky as he could have been, all things considered. Still nervous, obviously - a knife was worse than a fist - but he was no stranger to violence.

He didn't bother regarding the mugger or the knife; instead, Adam merely slid against the wall, darting towards Penny and past as he burst into a bit of a run, though he did stop a few metres behind the larger man.
