Possible Scenarios 01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach chruning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged! 02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filing the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running? 03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party at the Tower that spills out it's doors in welcome, by someone who calls themselves the Emperor. Obviously that's weird, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad. 04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences it's population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride. Choose your choice of sin and be wicked. 05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villian. 06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With it's open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank. 07. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

Draco knew full well that he was horribly out of practice when it came to keeping people out of his head; it simply hadn't been much of a necessity of late. The City, with everything that it did to them, rarely attempted mental attacks. He wasn't sure that the incidents involving nightmares or dreamscapes really counted, in truth.

But as he felt an unfamiliar brush against his mind, he found that he could at least throw up a couple of walls in his defence. The spell was easy enough, familiar on his lips, but he found himself curious as to who was capable of getting in like that, with such ease. It, oddly, felt like Charles. But not; he knew what Charles' mind felt like.

It was with a frown on his features that he continued walking down the street, getting nearer to Jean with every step. As he rounded the corner and spotted her, his first thought wasn't she's the one, though; it was she looks new.

"All right?"

The voice had caught her off guard, her attention still drawn to the voices surrounding her. So many people so afraid. Something of a tragedy had happened here, almost akin to what had just happened with En Sabah Nur. To be afraid of those who helped save them.

"Oh. Sorry." Jean replied quickly, drawing her attention to the man beside her. "I'm okay. Just feeling a little overwhelmed."

"I can't blame you there," he mused thoughtfully, making a bit of a face. He remembered - albeit vaguely - what it had been like, back in the day. There was so much City around them, too many unfamiliar faces, too much of everything to deal with. It always took a bit of time before one figured out what to do with it all.

"You're new, aren't you?"

If it were only just that. She looked about again, catching a few stray thoughts from passerbys. They were looking at the two of them, or trying to not make it obvious, as they went by.

"Yes, I'm new."

If only if it were ever just that.

"You telegraph it from a block away, by the way. Watch that you don't get yourself mugged," Draco suggested, shrugging one shoulder casually. If he cared that people were looking at them, it didn't show, and wasn't obvious behind his mental walls. "Not that I'm going to. I'm better than that.

"You're in the City of Sin, by the way."

Jean looked Draco over and gave a small amused smile. It was interesting she couldn't really see into his mind, but it didn't mean she still couldn't protect herself. However, she doubted Draco would attempt it anyway, at least not on such a busy street.

"I've heard. You're not from here either."

He always felt good when he could get a new one to smile and loosen up a bit; that small bit of amusement was a win for him.

"I'm certainly not. I'm from England, in fact. What about you?"

"New York." She answered, feeling a little more at ease, even if she couldn't read his mind. It was nice, considering.

"You're different."

[alphaophiuchi]

"Very nice," he mused, nodding a little. The casual conversation was nice, actually. "I've never been, sadly."

But: "Different?"

Whatever playful nature she had faded to something thoughtful. "I can't read your mind. It's not like I'm trying to or anything. I just noticed."

His eyebrows arched slightly, in a rather curious sort of fashion. He was interested in that, without a doubt; it was hard not to be. That also answered his earlier question.

"So it was you," Draco murmured to himself. Then he lifted his voice back to its normal, conversational tone: "Yes, I know. My aunt taught me how to keep people out of my head. It was for a reason, back when I learned it. Now it's simply handy."

It was impressive to say the least. She'd spent most of her life being able to slip into minds so easily, to find one that could at least block her out so far, was amazing.

"Was she a telepath as well?"

[alphaophiuchi]

"Well. I wouldn't say that. In my world, things work a little differently." Of course, one had to wonder why Draco knew how to compare telepathy to his own magic. "There's a branch of magic in my world known as Occlumency and Legilimency - two connected ideas, one of which is similar to your telepathy, while the other blocks it. Neither is innate, though; they're learned.

"She was, though, rather good at both, I'll admit. But absolutely insane. So that was a bit of a...disappointment, I suppose."

He hated his aunt.

A skill that could be learned, not born with. That was a interesting prospect. "How does anyone keep secrets?"

His aunt was unfortunate, though she could understand. Being able to so easily see into the minds of others, it could drive anyone mad.

[alphaophiuchi]

"With ease. It's a very rare sort of talent. You have to have control over your mind like nothing else," he chuckled, smirking a little. "I've known people to try it, only to fail miserably. They simply couldn't compartmentalise the right way. It's not as effortless as telepathy, I don't think."

"It's a shame the Professor isn't here. He'd love to hear about your mind ability." She stated fondly.

If only she knew.

[alphaophiuchi]

There was only one man who was ever referred to with as the Professor commonly (ish) and with such fondness. "Charles Xavier, you mean? He is here."

Well, that was surprising and convenient. "He is? I didn't sense him."

[alphaophiuchi]

Terribly convenient. More students. Always a good thing, really. Hopefully.

"Well, I couldn't tell you why that might be, but he was here when I woke up this morning," Draco merely explained, offering a very casual shrug.

"Is he okay?" She asked, concerned. After everything that had happened, she was worried that the Professor wasn't completely fine.

"Generally speaking," he replied with a quick blink, one that came from mild surprise. Of course, he probably needn't be surprised; it certainly followed that if there was another telepath out there, there would be some closeness. "Everyone's always got their bad days around here, but...I'd say his aren't too bad."

"No, I mean," She started and then stopped in frustration. "Something almost happened to him, almost lost himself. Is he okay?"

He'd hesitated to broach that topic, unsure when and where she'd been from. But given that she'd been the one to mention it, Draco felt a little more certain he could open up. At least a little bit. "He's all right. It was a shock to the system, obviously, but I got him home. He just needs a bit of time, I'm sure."

The Professor would need time to heal, but she was worried about the state of his mind. She had felt what he had, knew how close he'd come to losing himself.

Since Draco seemed to close to him now, he would be the best person to ask. "Can I see him?"

Draco thoughtfully tongued the back of his teeth, then tentatively nodded. "I suppose so. In the meantime, you can tell me a little more about yourself, so I'm not bringing here wandering around with a perfect stranger."
