Possible Scenarios
Please note that all characters will initially arrive in their assigned housing; they are free to explore the City to their heart's content after that!01. A New Arrival: Hello, New Person! You seem to have found yourself on a sidewalk in the City of Sin with nothing but the clothes on your back and a stomach churning feeling of being displaced. Thankfully, the streets are full of people - Watch out that you don't get mugged!
02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?
03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party in the Tower District that spills out its doors in welcome. Obviously, this whole thing is weird and you don't know who your hosts are, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.
04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences its population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride: choose your sin and be wicked.
05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villain.
06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.
07. Network: There's a network device in your pocket - or at least a familiar object that seems to work in mysterious ways. Perhaps you can take to that and ask for a bit of help? Or maybe you'd prefer to have a little fun with all of this. Surely someone will reply.
08. Wild Card:Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

"You make it sound like the City is alive," he says, reaching out to grab another glass of champagne from a waiter, now that he's finished the last one and left it sitting on top the piano.
She claims leaving the city is impossible. But she's...well, not mortal, exactly, but at least human adjacent. She's not an angel, more importantly. She doesn't have wings that can fly her between dimensions. Impossible for her isn't the same as impossible for him. And true, he'd hate to have to use his wings, blasted unwanted things that they are. He'd been planning to cut them off, once he found a suitable place to do it. But perhaps a trip home was on order first...

But he still kept trying.
God bless the Doctor, he was nothing if not persistent. Much to Jack's--and sometimes Diana's-chagrin.

There was a note of genuine sadness in Diana's tone. Even knowing what she knew, that his death hadn't 'taken,' as it were, the loss was still palpable. After all, the Doctor and Jack were her family.
The only family she had left.
Or that she cared to count.
"The City revived him a few days later. It does that sometimes. But it was too much for his mind to handle."
no subject
"...The City is alive and bringing humans back from the dead?" he says, more than a little incredulous.
no subject
A smile played at her lips.
"To be fair," she said calmly, "the Doctor isn't exactly human either. He calls himself a 'Time Lord.' Which I think is just the English translation of whatever his species actually calls itself."
no subject
So he wasn't actually used to things like this; things that were outside of his knowledge and experience. After millenia of existence, you don't really expect to discover anything new.
"Alright, so the city is going bringing 'Time Lords' back to life then," he says, waving around the hand with the champagne glass in it. "And excuse me, but what sort of species name is 'Time Lord'? Does this entire species have delusions of grandeur?"
no subject
After all, she'd known one for years.
And he made no sense at all.
"All I know is what he told me. Which isn't much. He doesn't like talking about his home."
no subject
That...actually could make some sense. Other universes were something he knew existed, even if he'd never been to one himself. He'd sent his Mother to a new one, after all. But if this is another universe, not even his wings will be able to help him. They can fly him between dimensions, but not universes.
For the first time in this conversation, Lucifer looks faintly disturbed.
no subject
A disappointment, truth be told. Although not with him.
They needed to get better at keeping the Chosen well-informed. Someone without the appropriate information could fly off the handle. In a thousand different ways. The multiverse was scary. Overwhelming, at first.
Perhaps even moreso than acknowledging the existence of vampires.
"We're in a hub," she said. "The point where the infinite universes meet. I mean, I'm from 2009. The year that Phoenix, Arizona was...kind of destroyed. Did anything like that happen in your world?"
no subject
"...And no, Phoenix definitely still exists," he adds slowly. "2009 was a few years ago."
Bloody hell.
no subject
Well. Pulled an Erik. Eriked up the place. And himself in the process.
Diana shook her head. "I'm sorry you weren't given all the information. Truly, I am. That's a horrible way to begin." And she meant it. Diana was about as genuine as they came, particularly in her compassion.
Admittedly, he seemed to be doing all right. But still. It was unfair.
"I'm not the best person to explain," she added. "I mean, I've been here for a long time but...I'm not such much with the science-y parts of it. I just know what I know, you know?"

There were a variety of theories, of course. Everything ranging from the City to the Magistrates. But Diana had begun to suspect it wasn't as simple as one responsible party. And she'd begun to wonder about the role the Chosen themselves played in their own abductions.
Not victim-blaming, of course. But she couldn't help wondering if they weren't somehow better. Like this. Together.
At least, she was sure she was.
She'd wandered into the City absolutely sure it was Hell. Finding out she was still alive and that Jack was there to take her in his arms had been...incredible.

And, of course, her faith that he was actually the Devil was still...dubious, at best.
But there was nothing she disagreed with.
"You'll get used to it," she offered instead. "And the multiverse can be groovy, when you do. You get to meet some amazing people and creatures."
no subject
He stands up then. Time to move on, he thinks. Lovely as she is, she's given him a lot to think about.
And he might just need to bite the bullet, and find out if his unwanted wings can get him home.
"Pleasure meeting you, Ms Diana," he says, toasting her with his champagne flute. "You've been an illuminating conversational partner."
no subject
She conjured up a smile that was somewhere between wry and genuine, standing politely. "It's Diana Abel," she said. "A-B-E-L. And I'm sure we'll run into each other again. The City is only so large."
And he wouldn't be leaving as quickly as he hoped.
Fallen angel or not.
"I run an adult education program at the library," she continued. "If you never need help with anything, stop by."
no subject
It's unlikely, he knows, that rather unlikely that she's actually referring to some naughty little sex education. But a Devil can still dream, can't he?
no subject
And nothing good ever came from Abe.
"Maybe you'll take my swordplay class," she replied blandly.
no subject
"Swordplay indeed," he breaths. "Perhaps I will, Ms Abel." Even if he already knew perfectly well how to wield a sword. She was interesting, this little vampire. If - and he was still trying not to think too much about this possibility - Lucifer really was stuck here, he'd be curious to learn more about her.
"Enjoy the rest of your evening," he says then, before making his exit.
