State of the City: Time to Breathe/End of an Era event

WEEK 68 : Time to Breathe
April 29 - May 5th

With the feelings of love and affection fading into the week past, people are coming back to their whole senses and, for a few days, things would almost properly normal. If, you know, the world wasn’t coming to an end.

Late on the night of the 29th, the peace of 2 am is broken with a low, ominous whine that hangs in the air for moments before a thunderous crack resounds throughout the streets, shaking the city's foundation and rattling windows so violently that anything not firmly attached on the walls is vaulted off. Followed by the stomach churning high whine of steel and magic breaking, the sound held steady for what people would inaccurately call 'forever', fading out minutes later to the screaming din of jolted car alarms and sirens as first responders headed out. The night sky is marred, missing it's moon and stars but hosting something much more troubling; a fracture that crawled halfway up the barrier like a gnarled, fragmented finger. Be it from power or another light source, the fragment was emanating enough light for people to see clearly and judging by the sounds coming up from the street, the local populace was rightly concerned.

A busy, almost-panic sets into the people of the city over the next several days, some screaming about it being the end of days, some threatening to pack their things and hide, while others hotly debating how this has been allowed to happen in the first place. Over the next several weeks, surges of demons will be penetrating the City, with intent to loot and pillage. Power and City Services will get spotty and intermittent, getting worse as the attacks progress.

(Players will decide how and to what degree their characters are affected by this and all of the prominence shifts to come. It is entirely optional to be involved with the prominence events. This will last for one in-game week and emotinal fuckary will continue on May 6th. Please remember that we are on a 3:1 day ratio!)

State of the City At Large:

The Weather
With the crack in the barrier of the City, the skys do their best to hide it with ominous rainclouds that draw attention to the brilliant light of the fracture beyond. Showers are expected throughout the week.

Crime
With chaos in the streets, looters are active but so are the hard working citizens who chase them back out of their shops. People are armed to the teeth and jumpy, and the cops are too busy fighting to calm them down. Be Safe out there Sinners.

Rumours
Pretty much everyone is talking about Current Events and those who aren’t are deaf and blind. Questions about what will happen and if what’s being done is enough are abound.

Questions? Like to arrange a meeting with an NPC? Fire away! If you wish to arrange a meeting with an NPC, please give the mods details on what you’d like to achieve so that we’re capable of providing.

Additionally, feel free to use this as a plotting post for the upcoming week!

ok, i'm going to throw this here instead of plurk because of persistence.

Ace, if he is back in time (he'll be moving to the City real fast once he groks what is going on) will be in the thick of the fighting. He's also will likely be ferrying the injured to Rhys's club once he knows about it. Ace may also get bossy about some stuff, we'll see how that goes.

Aithne....that is to be decided. She's going to be tight on Nina because that's her charge but when she gets loose she is also going to be in the thick of it. She is also a healer, though it is different than most, so there is also that route.

I'm open to anything and most everything, just let me know.

Modly sorts: Is there any particular effect from fighting demon-types? I think Charlotte would, but I'd like to approach it the best way I can.
