Even though there isn't going to be an endgame plot here, I want to let everyone know how I'm choosing to wrap up my characters' storylines in game since I had things in motion that I don't want to leave hanging. CoS AU posts are up on Wanda's journal and Sara's journal for anyone who wants an AU psl or five.

- Wanda (divaricate) is staying dead in game-canon proper and will not be active in this new PSL-toned setting, so any of her 'new' CoS-verse canon will be strictly AU. I was obviously going to bring her back in the original plot in the game, but change of plans. She's died before in canon, so what's new tbh.

- With the relaxation of the full-game mechanics here in light of shifting to a PSL tone, Sara (canaria) will be taking this chance to move to the desert planet. She'll visit the City limits and whatnot as needed if anyone wants to PSL with her here in the CoS comms again, but homebase is elsewhere for her.

I know a poll just went up about the state of our game, but the fact of the matter is, after more observations and feedback, it's clear no matter what happens, the game can't continue on as a formally modded place.

While the game isn't closing in the sense that no new posts can go up, etc., this community is going to transition into a place where people can still post things in the game setting, open to all or closed posts with CR, just like any other active game works! Just, you know, without moderation/mod guided plot. Think of it like a giant PSL.

Effective as of this post:

• There will be no more AC, and no more apps and reserves. New players/characters won't be added as community memberships have been set to closed.

• To make things easy, the game's time will transition to 1:1 day ratio, current to the date in real life, so that I do not have to maintain a calendar. Characters will fall asleep at night and wake up to the new date; feel free to play with that if you like.

• There will be no 'endgame' plot. Carry on as usual with your plotlines and CR if you choose.

Thanks for making this such a great place for players past and present, everyone! Regardless if you choose to post here still or not!

Given that RP is slowing down for right now because a lot of us have even less time and/or mental energy to RP, here's a different kind of meme. We have a CR meme that's posted, but this is a handwaved CR meme! Specifically for, you guessed it, handwaved CR. Those things that we want to say happen off'screen', between threads, etc., to supplement the moments that are threaded out.

Here's what the copy/paste form that's under the following cut will look like:

CHARACTER NAME & CANON: Self explanatory.
BRIEF SUMMARY: Give us some info about who they are as a character; this doesn't have to be long! A few bullet points or sentences.

First off, as of posting this entry, four players are still missing from March's AC post; please go do that in the next day so you don't miss out! Double check to make sure you posted AC if you're not 100% sure. Ask for a save if you need to, and all that jazz.

And now, the real main reason for this post, which is for a couple of important April announcements:

01. To give players a mini break, there will be no activity check post going up for April (everyone gets a free pass for April) because, well ... I think we all know the tenuous state of the world right now. As such, instead of now, the results of the now-closed AC reassessment poll will be posted at the end of April and will be in place starting for May's AC. Anyone who requested an AC save (or was told they needed one) in March will submit it in May's AC post instead.

02. There will also be a mini break on the mod-side, for the same reason! Reserves, while typically on an open month in April, will not be open in April. This does mean as such that there will be no apps in May since this game requires reserves for apps, but we will resume our regular staggered apps/reserves schedule after that. All other mod business such as putting up plot stuff, answering questions, etc., will still obviously be going on during this time.

These disruptions in our usual game functions obviously won't last forever, but this is just where we are in the world now, folks, and we all in this game do this as an unpaid hobby in whatever free time our lives and whatever anxieties afford us even in the best of circumstances.

Aaand that's it! Remember to stay inside and wash your hands a lot (also buy lotion for those hands because soap dries them out like a mofo and no one wants cracks on their hands).

Hi, pals! So, the tl;dr version of this development is that:

• Wanda is going to brb; she's currently spending some time being dead. Her first actual death in the City, what a rite of passage.

• When she returns, she will no longer have that alien stuff in her from her run-ins on the jungle planet and messing with the weird cult there.

• There are two Magistrates left in the City: The Sun and the Empress. The newer magistrates have been killed by the Sun, via Wanda, also killed by her. While Wanda will come back, the magistrates will not. Things are being shaken up in the City and the Sun is showing just how trash she is so, err ... meet your new asshole magistrate taking over in place of the Emperor (who was our #1 asshole magistrate until he was killed by a PC some months ago). The Sun is also taking over those four new district 'openings', so she now has six under her control. This will be reflected in the NPC page in the next day or so.

Hi players! I know, we gave up mid-month AC reminders, which makes this a-not-so-typical AC reminder. In short: Because our AC is open all month, our March AC here in CoS is operating as usual. I know a lot of games are doing different ACs right now, but since: 01. ours was posted well before that trend, 02. is open all month, 03. we're on a very new AC system at CoS anyway and I don't want people to feel *more* thrown off or confused (I think we could all use less confusion in our lives right now about literally everything from RL to RP), 04. as well as out of respect for those players in our game who have diligently made sure to make March AC and have already posted it (AC proofs have been submitted as recently as less than 24 hours ago) ... it seems more fair to carry on business as usual here instead of changing it a little more than halfway through the month. Again, less confusion, not more.

ALLLL THAT SAID, April's AC status will be evaluated as we get closer to the end of March and see what's going on in the world. For now, assume it's also business as usual, but I will let you all know before the first of the month.

Hi everyone. Ryah here.

I'm bringing in my second character - Anakin Skywalker. He's coming in as an AU, but that's because of his previous game experience. He was floating happily in the eternity of the Force when he got sucked through the multiverse to Earth. So he's a quasi-mix of canon and Earth culture. 02. Demonic Presences: You were just minding your own business, weren't you? But that's always when bad things seem to happen, and the City of Sin isn't really that friendly. Whatever bar or street you're hanging out in suddenly go dim, filling the area with an unnerving feeling as the shadows on the walls jump out into reality. We suggest you phone a friend for help, or maybe try running?

03. Party Hard: You've been invited to a massive, elegant party in the Tower District that spills out its doors in welcome. Obviously, this whole thing is weird and you don't know who your hosts are, but maybe you can get some free drinks and food out of it! This place might not be so bad.

04. Prominence: The City of Sin influences its population on a weekly basis. Too bad you came right smack dab in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride: choose your sin and be wicked.

05. Trouble: Not everyone is sunshine and roses here. Some people are violent and cruel, raised in the sludge of a sinful city. And they like to pick on people they think can't fight back. Are you that person? Or are you the Hero who can't stand to watch? Worse yet, could you be the person doing the instigating? Villain.

06. Carnival: The City has carnivals or festivals now and then; you're lucky to catch one! With its open booths filled with cork gun games and funnel cakes, how can someone not have any fun! Go win your darling a stuffed animal, or meet someone new on the spinning cup ride. You might even see someone you know being talked into sitting in the Dunk Tank.

07. Network: There's a network device in your pocket - or at least a familiar object that seems to work in mysterious ways. Perhaps you can take to that and ask for a bit of help? Or maybe you'd prefer to have a little fun with all of this. Surely someone will reply.

08. Wild Card:Choose your own adventure in the game's setting!

page update: city locations

Hi players! I moved and updated our City locations page this afternoon, since it was getting to be a hot mess to manage in its other form, and had a lot of comments from characters who haven't been in game for literal years and whatnot. So! Shiny new update.

I left all of the comments on the page where these used to be (here!) screened, so as long as you're signed into the journal you left any comment/s with, you can transfer your character's job to the new page. And please do so! Because I'd like to keep this new page more updated and streamlined, which is why I haven't transferred any character jobs into the business descriptions yet — I don't want to assume someone is still somewhere that they aren't.

Also to be noted about the new page, there are no linked images. All location descriptions were left intact and directly copy/pasted, though. Just like with our housing page update a few months ago, it seems like every other day, an image hosting site shits itself and closes (a la tinypic) or decides that linking to other sites isn't allowed anymore (a la photobucket). So, while you're welcome to make info pages with images in your journals for any establishments that your characters own that you want to link back to the locations page, the monitoring of images and which ones are broken and which ones aren't won't be mod-managed anymore.

Look out your windows, true believers! Harry Dresden is about to make a little noise, and a lot of light.

Coming soon to the Tower near you(February 23rd-25th/January 3rd) will be neon pink and green painted sparkles everywhere, only appearing as the sun starts to set, and glowing brightly all night. And along the side will be simple words.

'THE CHILDE OF MAN ALWAYS RISES. NEVER STOP FIGHTING.'.

Late the next day, the paint and words will be gone, as mysteriously as they appeared.

But the next day(February 26th-29, March 1st-5th/January 4th-6th), not satisfied with the light show, Harry will be exerting himself to make sure nobody goes to the alien planets od doom, death and misery. A little hexing and a lot of will power, and pushing himself a little too much, will leave Harry unconscious for a few days.

And it will leave the travel pods nonfunctioning for the same three days.

Howdy, all, this is GW and I am taking a brief hiatus die to some personal time needs. This affects Clark Kent, Grog Strongjaw, Noah Bennet, Thor Odinson, and Harry Dresden.

As for what they will be doing, well, Clark will be cooking pies for Winterfest, and building a farm and house with Nina.

Noah will be lurking, throwing snowballs and slowly growing his influence.

Grog will be helping with Winterfest and leaving care packages for Claire and Cassie, and fighting at the arena.

Harry will be planning and plotting to overthrow things, and possibly drinking with Sara.

Thor will be making things with Shuri, and making out with Shuri, and blowing the new guy's mind.
