He didn't for a second think that she was 'alright now'. But he was hardly going to call her on it- that would be, he thought, the exact opposite of comforting. So he gave her his best attempt at a smile, which was really nothing more than a quirk of his lips, and he reached out for her hand. It was something she started, when he'd get too closed in on himself. She'd grab a hand and pull it away from where it was trapped at his side and pull it out to squeeze it while she talked.

He tried the same here, as he found a less heavy bit of conversation. "Except I apparently missed the part where Ember was a raging dickbag," he said, glancing to the side. "Oh, well.
