He wasn't entirely sure why he'd been picked out by this girl, but he supposed that sticking by her wasn't the worst idea. If nothing else, she knew a thing or two about what was going on, and given that Adam thrived most when he knew that too, it only made sense. He wasn't going to get anywhere without information.

There was still the matter of clarifying what exactly she profited from and how, and after a moment, he asked exactly that: "What kind of trouble are we talking here?"

He was, of course, largely unaware that she'd said anything into his deaf ear, short of the fact that she'd leaned in to speak to him. Obviously, Adam didn't catch it, but he didn't need to let her know that. Not just yet.
