He was kind of surprised that Kei finished the bags and didn't just try to sneak off when the first opportunity presented itself. He didn't really have a response for the first statement. He didn't know what being a vampire was like. He didn't think he could handle it himself. And he spent some time helping people be as comfortable as they could as they waited to die. He knew sometimes- every once in awhile- it was the better option. Maybe that was the case here. He couldn't make that judgment.
