Peter chuckled at that. "She's probably just tired of seeing me here as a patient," he admitted, leaning back in his chair. "I have a tendency to stick my nose into things. Maybe you noticed."
And with the subject broached again, he felt like their interruption was over. "I know I could've died," he said, softer. "But sometimes other things are more important. I'm glad I could help you some. And hey, if you want to disappear into the city after this, that's fine. But I just-" How could he explain this? "I've known what it's like to be a danger. Throw suddenly showing up here on top of that, and- well, that's not close to fair anymore."
