Oof. He could get used to hearing bones crack, but it never made it any more pleasant. Stealing a glance, he was pretty sure that both his nose and her hand were broken, but only one of those would stick around.
"Just got here yesterday," he replied. They had gotten to the point where they were standing next to each other. The three-man group had somehow dwindled to two while Peter had been occupied. One was still on his knees and the other looked hesitant as he faced both Peter and Claire.
"Trust me," Peter finally said to the guy. "This is a fight you're not going to win."
The smile on Peter's face was probably what did it. That and the fact that he made no move to keep fighting, seemingly giving them an out. The two aggressors backed off, and the crowd began to disperse. Peter rubbed at his nose, and gave Claire a big, open smile. "Sorry to show up like this." He always seemed to be fighting something when he ran into Claire. "You okay?" he asked, even though he was pretty sure he knew the answer. It was a little more open-ended than just asking about her hand, to be fair.
