Care Packages!
Isn't that nice? The Magistrates care. Awwwwww.
They care so much about the people who live in their Districts that each has contributed something to a gift that will arrive in the assigned housing for all characters at the end of the first day of their arrival. It has come to their attention that there is suddenly a significant handful of people out there who are covered as far as housing goes, but strangely don't have food, toiletries, or income. It's odd because the records that each one keeps in one form or another indicate that these residents have been in the City for some time, but it's probably not worth worrying about.
As well, each of the items from the Magistrates has a small note signed by the Magistrates themselves, just so there's no question who they're from! Be sure to thank them!
The care package contains one of each of the following:

The care package contains one of each of the following:
Shampoos, soaps, self-care supplies and some basic food items, approximately enough to last a week or so. One item from your character's home or previous location, whatever they wish they had with them the most. It needs to be small enough to fit in a 20"x20" box. In addition, we ask that it not be any sort of game-breaking object. For all intents and purposes, this is simply to make your character feel more at home. From The High Priestess (Gardens of Pleasure) - Coupons to various restaurants and shops, a perfume or cologne sampler, and a variety of fruits and cheeses. From The Sun (Finance Street) - A deposit slip to a bank account in your character's name. There is a starter balance of $50 in it. From The Fool (Leisurebrook) - A comfortable pillow and towel. From The Empress (The Coliseum District) - A pack of energy drinks and a trial membership in one of the many gymnasiums and training arenas in the district. From The Star (Shantytown) - A small, concealable weapon of some kind (player's choice), for example a handgun or a knife. From The Emperor (The Tower District) - A signed, framed picture of The Emperor. Yep. The frame appears to be silver, though, and can probably be sold for a little extra cash. From The Magician (The Red Lantern District) - Flyers for a brothel called Desire and a club called Sin, entitling the bearer to get in without a cover charge one time, and a sturdy pair of handcuffs.
If your character happens to look carefully through their box, wedged into the bottom there is also a packet of some kind of red powder labeled "Lust". It should be noted that finding more Lust within the City is getting harder and harder nowadays. This is a drug that can be eaten, smoked or injected, with progressively faster and stronger results respectively. If your character has abilities or powers, it will enhance them significantly for 24 hours. It also produces a euphoric feeling for roughly the same amount of time, loosening inhibitions, and it has something of an aphrodisiac effect. The character will have an intense need to touch and be touched while the drug is in effect. "Lust" induces chemical dependency very quickly, and someone who takes it will have progressively stronger cravings to take it again for it that last the next few days right at the start, this quickly progresses into withdrawal symptoms that include shaking, sweating and an inability to concentrate with repeated use. Also on the downside, it is a stimulant and sends a person's blood pressure through the roof. Prolonged use will wear out a person's heart, lungs, kidneys and liver, to the eventual point of said organs almost liquifying within the body itself. Overdose will bring on cardiac arrest and major organ failure. There is a phone number printed on the back of the packet, as if to indicate where more can be obtained. Those calling the number only hear a beep, and then they can leave a recorded message.
