Alex was out on a run when he spotted someone with the tell-tales signs and look on her face of a newly arrived person. He went running every day, incorporating parkour aspects into his runs, and even sometimes his powers, too. As he saw the young woman, he slowed, took a long breath, then approached her at a normal pace. His baby face and his lean figure sometimes made people think he was younger than he was, and if that helped, then he was all for it.
